I'm not struggling with the tight tracks.
The stages are narrower in this game that's for sure, but it is fairly realistic.
I don't know if this is meant as sarcasm or not, but if not...
The stages do not match the real stages precisely, and the Rally 1 cars are wider than the older cars.
Skill issue. Try being smoother on the throttle on corner exit, make sure your wheels are straight before flooring it.
The Pinball effect though is because the collision physics in this game are poor and akin to racing games from the 90's. DR2 you would slow down when hitting armco barriers or crash through wooden fences for example.
The speed.
You control the speed of the car, not the game. Drive a little slower, drive at 85-90%. Try to leave some room for error, don't drive on the edge. Aim the car to the inside of the corner and turn tighter, don't let the rear wandering off track.
And it's worth to try a slower car class, they are fun too.
The center pivot steering is a well documented fact in the Dirt games... and also many other old arcade racers like NFS and such.
Its like cars have 4 wheel steering to fake the user into thinking he is sliding while he is still grip racing. (And also to simply rotate cars abruptly, simply to make cars more agile)
Only when you go rly sideways and hear the "Chrrrrrr" sound, this is when you are actually sliding in the game, and that is rarely the case.

I had assists on pro mode which was everything at 0.
Turned:
ABS - 2
Tr Cntr - 2
Off accelerator braking - 1
I am using controller BTW...
Graphics:
Mirrors - off (Mega resource hog)
reflections - Ultra Low (Mega resource hog)
everything else high
Gained 50fps in Dash view: 140fps average @ 1440p
Now the game feels great, I can drive, and those narrow tracks, I can demolish.
I knew it couldn't be that bad.
