Yes, with the price of the Fanatec CSL DD Bundle, it really doesn't make much sense to get a gear driven wheel any more.

The G29 uses Potentiometers for its pedals, which wear out quite quickly and need maintenance to get accurate breaking and acceleration. I got so fed up with taking the pedals apart (lots of very thin wires that are easily broken) that I replaced them all with Linear Position Sensors from AXC Sim Racing Products - which work great!

Certainly is immersive though and much more fun that a 2 stick controller!

* Rumble as in device rumble like a 2 stick controller rumble, not the rumble which is generated via force feedback on the G29 when going over rough terrain.

Thank you for the information :)

At least this is my experience with the logitech pedals.

Thank you for this information :)

If you are buying new OP then neither. You are effectively "throwing good money after bad". as the saying goes. That is not to say if you can get a half price ( or lower ) second hand unit then the choice becomes harder as you are losing less money.

Where as The g29,920 /293, 3 years ago could still be recommended as a decent starter wheel.. ( And it still is - the caveat being for games around 3 old. ( and older))
Just as 8Gb Gfx cards days are numbered so the 2Nm wheel is already further along the path . Devs dont want to optimise games for lower torques be it time and effort / cost of doing so.

Personal opinion of course, but Ideally you should be looking at around 4Nm as the entry point into Wheels moving forward
Moza - R3 ( soon) & R5 , Fanatec CSL DDs as have been mentions offer a decent entry point into DD wheels.. where at that price point you are getting considerably more accuracy to go with your Nm.

Good luck.

Thank you :) It will be my first wheel, so maybe i will start with G29.

its amazing logitech kept the pins ect the same from ps2 era until now and still compatible comparing the g29 #920 direct drive to belt drive sounds odd to me because you need silence while rally driving ? the g29#920 direct drive slip on different surfaces is 2nd to none and feels real life to me been driving 30 years to compare with . im getting the hoover out on good advice and having a minute silence for the decoder disk

I think just because you easily ditch 5000$ on toy wheels and accessories these days, does not mean the average entry price has to go up too.
To ask for a beginner to fork out 500 to 600$ or more is clearly not reasonable(its his first wheel)... he doesnt even know if he will use it that much.

The ~350$ is "entry level" enough, and you get good stuff for it. No its not high end and does not have 100Nm and a shifter and handbreak... but he does not need that at all to have fun in a race game.
just saying....

I used a G27 for years and still have it. They had a G29 on sale for $200 a few years back and bought to replace the G27. I was on iRacing a lot back then and there were no DD Wheels yet.

I bought a Fanatec 2.5, a couple wheels and tri-pedals. I liked the feel of the G29 better still and I was 1/2 second faster on iRacing with the G29 than the Fanatec. The 2.5v Base had an upgrade the other day and it feels a lot better to me than before.

I still use my G29 more as it's a quicker set-up in my layout. One of those 1 pole Wheel Stands and a G29 sets up quick. I have to move everything for the Fanatec, Racing Seat and everything.

no experience with the 923 but I bought my g29 in june of 2019, 4+ years and 1000+ hours and its still going strong. I am feeling the itch to get something nicer though.

I have a G923, its fine. not worth extra money over a G29 if you can choose, choose to save money.
If you have extra money get a Moza R5 or something. the gears are clunky and loud.
The FFB clips pretty fast cause the motors are weak. its a fun toy. but if you are looking for a wheel that is more than just a toy, don't go for Logitech.
