Logitech g29 or Logitech g923
Which of these two, do you prefer?

I've never used a g923, but it's still a gear driven wheel, so I doubt it's worth the extra money over the g29.

I have never tried either, but i have the logitech G DD pro wheel with Trueforce. The G923
also has Trueforce but it comes down to the game to support that feature.

I know the TF feels great on the powerfull wheel i have. However i feel like those effects would get in the way on a low power 923.

It really depends on your personal taste. Trueforce offers Hi-def sound turned into vibrations. Makes things like tire slip feel sooooooo good.

If you don't care about those type of fancy effects then go with the 920.

Like i said before though, we don't even know if EA WRC has trueforce suport. Dirt Rally 2 has it and it is a game changer for me.

The 920 will still offer FFB effects that vibrate the wheel. Trueforce is way more detailed though

If it's at all in your budget, do some research on the entry level DD wheels, there are some at a pretty good price points these days.

The Fanatec CSL DD Bundle, while more than the Logitech, is much better.

G29 Linux user here, for a long time the G29 was the only wheel that worked properly on Linux (drivers are in the Kernel), it is a very noisy wheel and thats before the devices own *Rumble activates (which for me only actually makes a jack-hammer type noise you dont feed the rumble though the wheel) dont think DR2 uses the device Rumble itself, but WRCGen, Beam.ng, AC do.

The G29 uses Potentiometers for its pedals, which wear out quite quickly and need maintenance to get accurate breaking and acceleration. I got so fed up with taking the pedals apart (lots of very thin wires that are easily broken) that I replaced them all with Linear Position Sensors from AXC Sim Racing Products - which work great!

https://www.axc-sim.com/product/potentiometer-kit-for-logitech-g-series-pedals/

So that is something to also consider in the long run, as the extra cost + hassle, no hand brake along with the noise makes the G29 not such great value. Especially with a T300RS around the same price (quieter belt drive) and Fantec Direct Drive wheels almost in this price range too.

Certainly is immersive though and much more fun that a 2 stick controller!

* Rumble as in device rumble like a 2 stick controller rumble, not the rumble which is generated via force feedback on the G29 when going over rough terrain.

I think the G29(and G27 and G920) has the same pedals as my old G25 had, and these held up for over 10 years without any problems at all. Last year the decoder disk broke on my G25, the pedals where still working like on day one.
At least this is my experience with the logitech pedals.

To add, the new logitech pedals have some additional rubber rear stop in the break... not sure if they remove that again because it is absolutely bad. Mate of mine has a G920 and we took apart his pedals to remove that thing... now they are equal to my G25 pedals.
But with that rubber block in the break, the break pedal is terrible. But it is very easy to remove... few screws and 20 minutes.

Lucky you! Mine lasted just outside warranty before the accelerator started fluctuating :(

Poti´s are usually only sensible to dust in them... i mean the wear from moving them back and forth at slow speed, as you do with the pedal, is marginal at best.(EDIT: i mean if you move em a lot with dust in them already, this is abrasive and does damage)

However if dust comes in you get spikes in the output.
That said, i never cared much for the peddals. I hoover out some dust from time to time as good as possible without taking them apart... they kept working and still do. Sadly the decoder disk in the wheel broke.
