Offline playable or Again Always Online ?

I'm sure it will be online for anything that goes on the Leaderboards. Makes
sense if they want people to take it seriously without lots of cheating.

It says on the store page, and in the system requirements that you need an internet connection.

Yeah, I am completely happy with this. As long as everything else is playable offline.

yeah, I just lost all progress on one stage, because steam wasn't connected anymore...

DR2.0 hat at least a second separate offline campaign...
Would prefer them to not make essential singleplayer content online only though.

If it is the same I have experienced, you Ctrl+Alt+Enter to get out of fullscreen and then you can either log in to Steam in a browser, or poke around in your steam account. That should connect you again.
