FAQ, Guide, Bug Solutions & Tips 🐮🌾🏠
Hi all,

Thank you for your feedback so far. We are going through the forums and customer reviews to gather your feedback and collate it with our plans for the first patch. We aim to release the patch next week, and as much as we’d love to, we cannot guarantee everything will be fixed in it. In the meantime, here are solutions to common bugs, some tips and tricks and general game information.

GUIDE

How to refill a watering can:
  • Equip watering can
  • Go to the west of Margarita’s house to the edge of the water with no fencing
  • Hover cursor over the water and press E key / X on controller
  • A watering well blueprint can be purchased from Magarita and after you build a well, you can use this as another source to refill your watering can

Switching Tools:
  • Hold the Q key / LT on controller to open the tool wheel
  • Click on the tool you would like to use
  • Tool wheel prompt doesn’t show up if no tool is selected but the button still works.

Tools become unusable if the durability is depleted (the bar at the bottom left side of the screen is completely empty):
  • Craft or buy a new tool
  • Go to the blacksmith NPC, Saint, and use his profession to repair your tool

All seeds in shops replenish after sleeping:
  • Sleeping can be done in the guest house next to Eva’s house
  • Using the guest house can be done before its introduced to the player by Eva

Where to find higher tiers of ore
  • Only 2 can be found in the Pixelshire mine near Bron
  • More iron ore is found in the mine found in the Greenwood past where Saint is standing
  • Bron gives you 4 iron ores to make the iron bars he requests
  • Each area will have a mine with higher tiers of ore

Each crop will have a description of what season they can grow in

Each Season is 10 days long. There are two seasons: Summer and Winter

SOLUTIONS TO COMMON BUGS

Q: Why can’t I buy more rice seeds?
If you bought all 6 rice seeds and there are no more rice seeds left in Margarita's shop, you need to sleep in the guest house which is the right-most door of the mayor's house (the big house above the fountain!)

Q: Where and how can I refill my watering can?
Be sure to target the square in front of you when refilling your can! The only place currently to fill your watering can is west of Margarita's house. The quest line will indicate this spot when you receive your watering can.

Q: How can I move my work bench?
You will receive a hammer from the mayor that will allow you to change the placement of your work bench.

Q: How do I dig a pond?
Dig in one spot until there is water. Repeat until there are 6 holes with water.

Q: How do I dig or elevate with the shovel?
There are three options with the shovel. You can see which option you have equipped by looking at above the tool icon in the bottom left corner when your character is holding the shovel. The three options are dig, add dirt to a hole or elevate the ground, and make slopes (LB if using a controller, R if using mouse and key).

GAME INFO

Q: Are there any hardware & system requirements to run Pixelshire?
Pixelshire does not require high hardware performance, and can guarantee a basic experience on most devices with core and set graphics.

Q: Can I play Pixelshire with a controller?
Yes, the game has full controller support.

Q: What languages does Pixelshire support?
Pixelshire supports English, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Greek and Simplified Chinese.

Q: Will the game support multiplayer co-op?
There are no plans for multiplayer at the moment.

Q: Does the game have achievements?
Yes, the game features a number of great achievements for players to unlock.

Q: How do I fix the UI scaling if it’s too big?
You can make any adjustments on the UI scaling bar under options.

Q: Does Pixelshire support custom key binding?
At the moment, Pixelshire does not support custom key binding, but we are looking to add options in the future.

TIPS & TRICKS

1. Collect excessive resources as soon as possible (i.e. wood, coal, and ores) because it makes the early game progress smoother.
2. Accept side quests as soon as you see them available from NPCs. They aren't always available.
3. Craft chests as soon as possible to store excess resources for later in the game. Remember to upgrade to Iron chests when possible.
4. Remember that seasons affect some crops so make sure to make the most of each season.
5. Gifts and side quests lead to romance and talents. Romance level leads to talent unlocks.
6. Harvest and water crops daily to get higher starred crops.
7. Try to not corner yourself while having an NPC follow you.
8. Compass doesn't tell you what area NPCs are in, so take note of where they like to go.

It's actually quite insane that the first tip is how to fill up a water can. Does the game not explain well enough?? :|

Unlike every farming sim ever made, you can't just use any fresh water source in the game. It is one specific spot and that is not explained. It makes you fill your can there in the tutorial, but doesn't say you can ONLY fill your can there until you make a well.

I don't understand why the dev didn't follow "If it's not broken, dont fix it" mentality of these types of games.

When I played the demo it felt really clunky, almost like it was using the RPG Maker engine (I know it doesn't).

Really disappointing to see that after even a delay, the game still came out not even close to being polished.
Q: Tools become unusable if the durability is depleted (the bar at the bottom left side of the screen is completely empty):
A: Craft or buy a new tool
A: Go to the blacksmith NPC, Saint, and use his profession to repair your tool

I thought I'd have the blacksmith repair my tools, but he refused to fix them. No matter how many times I press the button, there's no response. What should I do?

Oh no! It turns out you could only operate the repair menu using the space key!

How do I get the blue gems from the altar?
How do I get Items from the Christmas tree?

I can't get it out of the UI.
Is it a bug?

What about steamdeck controller just stop working?
I did post about this, it was working fine and now I can't use tools at all, I am using the 'Official layout for Pixelshire-Gamepad', yes I tried other options and nothing works, every button but the one that uses the tool, and before anyone asked no I don't have a PC to play this on instead it's why I got a steamdeck to play steam games.

Also closing out the game and reopening it doesn't work either, right now the game is unplayable for me which is a shame because I was enjoying it (after working out my own mistakes I admit) and I can see real promise.
Hello, If I give my character custom color settings (in appearance, clothing color, etc.), these things are automatically displayed in green as soon as the game starts and I can play the character. I've tried it several times, and the problem always occurs when I color something with custom color settings. I assume this is a bug?
I also noticed that:

During the fishpond quest;
When I talk to Margarita, the same text appears as in the rice farming quest. She should tell me that she wants to start fish farming (at least that's what Ferell says)?

A bit confusing;
I can't currently accept any side quests (That's ok, I'm still at the beginning). Whenever I try to accept one, a message appears saying I don't have enough talent points.
But, interestingly, my attempt to accept the quest still seems to be counted. For example, I found the necklace for Eva. I received a message saying the quest was successfully completed (even though I haven't been able to accept it yet?)

Yes, we are aware of that.

Did you save, quit, and load before talking to Margarita at any point, or was it a straight playthrough from the beginning? Also, what stage were you at when you encountered the quest issue?
doyachan May 10 @ 2:14pm
After clearing all the main quests, a quest somehow triggered where I received a potion first at the mayor’s house. I had a bad feeling about it, but after sleeping in the bed and waking up the next day, my character found themselves waking up in the sailor’s house—and from there, I couldn’t leave anymore.
All the items I had obtained disappeared from my bag, the NPCs seemed to have no memory of me, and the only things left were the upgraded tools.
This bug might need to be fixed as soon as possible. At this point, my save data is basically unusable.

I had a similar issue on Steam Deck or SD using the hoe during the early game tutorial. Anyhow, try this “workaround”: After selecting whichever tool you want to use with L2, usually you would use R2 to use it. However, since you are encountering a problem, try using the Touchscreen instead to activate or use your tool for the first time. Afterwords, R2 functionality should be restored and it should work thereafter.. Based on testing, this permanently fixes the issue for MOST people, though it’s possible you might have a different experience or outcome. I hope this works for you and good luck 🙃!

Also, I can assure you that the devs are aware of the Steam Deck button issues and other issues, even if they don’t directly respond to your post. In the future, I would recommend that you join their Discord, so that you may find help with other issues that you encounter; from the community or the Devs themselves. Happy Gaming!! 😉
