Love game until the Dragon fight.
I am melee and i don't have a chance in hell of defeating the Dragon. I can barely evade him when he dashes at me, if i do its rare..cuz then he swing his head and hits me.. Totally ridiculous. And then my NPC's, he don't even care about them but they are weaker than I am. Like seriously did these guys even play this game using melee... Geez... Game after game it boils down to stupid bosses mechanics/seriously OP bosses and it just completely ruins the fun. PoE 2 same thing, stupidly OP bosses where you spend your time diving around the area...I'll bet ya if i was a mage or ranger with bow be a different story, but im not and i refuse to change my char to be something i don't want it to be just to beat a boss.. Poor game design and clearly not tested. done everything in my power to max what I can and still can barely dent the dragon.. Like other games, I just quit..Will think twice next time I buy future games. Tired of the same BS in every game. I'm sick of diving around the map for 20mins to kill 1 stupid enemy. So frustrating.

i don't want a cakewalk of a game, I want some challenge obviously but at the same time, I don't want some stupid OP boss battles like we get in games now.

Maybe you missed two important aspects in your rant:

Some enemies are far beyond your character level and cannot (or can hardly) be defeated. I encountered that two or three times and decided to return later. That is, imho, part of the basics any gamer should know by now.

Combat - and success - mainly depend on you being able to evade the dragon's attacks. Yes, that IS possible. All you need to do is look at when and where the dragon attacks, then simply evade and you usually escape unharmed. That requires timing and - considering the first reply to your post - a lot of patience. Defeating a dragon that is a couple of levels higher than your charakter is definitely no cakewalk.

however you can beat dragons in baldur's gate 1/2 at lvl 10 if you're smart about it and do a lot of pause actions.

I killed all Dragons as melee and have the achievement. It can be done, and TBH it wasn't that hard.

As a melee character, go for the hind feet.
I for one had a grate time with the two dragon fights i have been in, they were tough but fun, the party members you take with you make a huge difference, I had Bellara and Llucanis, both with a revive charge, so far those fights have been a highlight of my play through

What Dexter said, attack their legs (both front and hind worked for me as weakpoints)

I'm with OP on this one, I hate these fights, they are all about ruining your wrist and your keyboard. Even if you attack the legs you get kicked away then he charges draining all your HP and potions in no time. Finally you defeat it and the a f*cking SECOND dragon comes so the dodging thing becomes even more impossible. Meanwhile, you are perfectly comfortable killing Champions and any other enemies out in the world. But when it comes to a fight that matters it feels like you have no chance.

I thought that would be indicated at the quest, right? Some quests have a "Requires level X" tag in red on them. The dragon quests don't have it, I'm on A Fighting Chance (the irony...) at lvl 32, assuming it should be doable.

Exactly, it feels like all I'm doing is dodge dodge doge run potion dodge dodge instead of actually trying to use my skill and line up some attacks. Companions don't seem to do anything at all, e.g. I tell Davrin to taunt or Lucanis to sunder and nothing happens.

Also, defense is completely useless on these fights, which is one of the main ways I gain advantage usually... I use Perfect Def and get tons of buffs and multipliers. No def, no companion skills just makes you even more gimped in these big boss fights.

You could feel it, but it's deeply wrong.

And your conclusion is it's game fault, not that you have a learning curve in front of you, common.

I'm no expert gamer and very old with reflex that slowed down, and still I learned beat those dragons with both mage and warrior, some other boss are in fact harder.

There is absolutely an indicator the dragon is level X, quest range is like 30-40 and 35-45.
More specifically, use the action menu, select the enemy, check with care the level is shown.

Your companions can't die, just run around and let them do the work. It'll take 15 minutes but it's not that bad.
Among the worst advice I ever seen, this advice is trying make you trash the game, hate it, and spoil yourself what could be a good fun.

Moreover the 15mn is plain false, even when using companions skills it will probably be longer, and make like you quote so jut let companions do it would take one hour at least.

What is the recommended level for the first dragon fight in Treviso, cause that thing is kicking my ass. I think I am like level 15 maybe, may be lower.

Tactics quoted in the thread still apply for it even if you only need damage it enough.

Simpler but more intense is:
- Go closer despite it's not intuitive, it is more complex to manage at long range.
- Switch to faster weapon set, bringing also faster and more responsive dodging. For mage it's orb+dagger, Rogue it's dual, and warrior it's Sword+Shield.
- Learn the patterns to avoid attacks when going closer.
- Close enough, go to back legs, and again learn the patterns to chain attacks and dodge back leg attacks.
- If the dragon fall, try rush chain attack to purple area doing a lot more damages, in general it's at dragon stomach so a bit in middle.
- Use combo with companions for more damages, but even for that you'll need learn the pattern to avoid attack when doing it.
- If you struggle a lot, ensure has one companion for regular healing.

EDIT:
A point, as far I know, when you roll you are immortal during the roll, so use roll a lot, not just dodge.
