dialogue is mid to bad in general, with some occasional actually good sprinkled in
combat seems fun initially, see how you feel about it in another 10-15h
The games fun and if you're a hardcore dragon age fan I think you have valid reasons to be disappointed by some of the decisions. To say the game is bad or not worth playing overall is genuinely delusional imo.
Plus you're on Steam, these brainless red-pill morons can't come up with a single original thought on their own. They just scream "woke" until somebody uses a new buzzword for them. Case in point, they all now scream "woke" and "DEI" nonstop.
do you want the truth or do you want to keep having fun?
If you want the honest truth, the hate train started before the game even came out. Streamer bros were butt hurt that they didn't get the game for free. As if they're obligated to receive one, so weird. Then their fans went on to fuel the flame when it came out by posting partial clips with no context.
Now there are some people who are genuinely disappointed with the game, it's not a perfect game. However, I feel like the ones who are still here complaining about it every day are just the troll bros. I've watched a few streamers enjoy it and I myself enjoyed it. It's not for everyone, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be either.
EA is allowing people to play it free for five hours as a demo to get an idea of it, this will hopefully encourage people to try it out for themselves and see if they like it.
I'm critical of Veilguard for the fact it's dismissive of its darker fantasy roots and more mature storytelling and is largely devoid of meaningful decisions. Yeah, I'm not a fan of modern injection of social issues, but the shift away from my aforementioned points is the real reason I keep looking but not buying.
I've been more on the anti-woke side of things, but the latest rounds of attacks on stuff like The Witcher 4 is really making that side seem as obnoxious and nauseating as the extremism on the left especially when ppl like Endymion and Hypnotic are glazing over facts ie SBI killed Suicide Squad rather than the fact that game was DOA due to studio idiocy and SBI was merely the cherry on top.
TLDR: like what you like and ignore these boards and the ragebaiters. They're out there just trying to get their slice of the pie, and it's easy to rile ppl up with the woke vs anti-woke.
The Game is not ¨BAD¨ at least not mechanically speaking though even in that part it could ave been better if you dont care about dialoge an lore then playing this will almost feel equivalent to playing a Zelda breath of the wilds now imagine you re watching your favorite anime series and you loved the first season, there was blood, gore, every character had intrincate backstories and dark motivations, tha protagonist actions had impactful consequences on the plot and when the season ends you are hooked because there are a lot of unfinished plotholes to be filled, years later you get to have season 2 from another studio, the first thing you notice is that the original artstyle is gone and now you have a more cartoon family friendly design and animation, is ok you dont care about that you care about the plot, second thing you see is that the script and the plot are barely cohesive with what you saw on season 1 and you can barely make any sense of it if at all, most of the relevant character cast from season 1 is gone, others where moved to a more filler role, and youll be lucky if you get a brief glimpse at some other key figure from the previous season, and when you do their persona has nothing to do whit what you experienced in season 1, they have little motivations or ambitions and they are only there to showcase the main characters role as the hero of the plot even more, character background, sidestory, plotiwst and everything you loved about season one is gonne insted you have a disney like movie script of the hero trying to save the world from a dark force with the power of friendship (and this particular case also) ¨diversity¨, blood and gore are gone, sidekick characters dialog and persona seem to have been pulled out of a My little Pony or teletubies show dammit all my little pony characters were more interesting at times even with their small dilemmas, main characters actions have little to no consquence on the plot wich you can already guess where is going because is super cliche.
Tell me what goes through your mind now? Hate perhaps?
And after you answer that tell me. Do you know get the point? Do you see where the hate comes from?
Can you feel it now? Doesnt it make you wanna rip and tear? something? hmmm?
The cringe
The problem is the context of the game in modern market and the legacy of the previous instalments.
DA was always left leaning and LGBTQ+ friendly. The writing was however much, much better, so it could not have been as easily targeted for people who scream "woke" on everything.
Looking at this game compared to the previous instalments is like looking at a restaurant that used to be world known for the best burgers in the world, and now it's serving fastfood on McDonalds level. Yeah, I do like myself McDonalds every now and then, but I sure would not consider it good in comparison to what it replaced.
