Is the high processor really necessary?

NVMe. I just got this computer and will be upgrading parts eventually. But will not having an i9 really be a big issue to play this game on this computer? or should I just buy it on PS5?

Anyway, I wouldn't bother with PS5, your system blows the console out of the water.

That said the i9-9900K is an 8 core, 16 thread, 5.00 GHz turbo processor.

The i7 14700F is a 20 core, 28 thread, 5.40 GHz turbo processor.

Basically, you've got a much better processor. The 9900K is also a DDR4 RAM processor and you have DDR5.

The specs for this game are very reasonable, actually about 3 or 4 year old specs.

Don't mind Raze, he can actually be quite helpful if you ignore his pathological need to remind everyone about how skeptical he is about the game. As Raze's helpful link demonstrates, your computer should do fine running Veilguard at moderately high graphics settings.

Your system specs are fine, you are well above the recommended system requirements. A core-I9 isn't necessarily more powerful than a core-I7 in gaming, and certainly not across generations. Your 14700F would blow the 9900K out of the water.

i3, i5, i7 and i9 refer to the power of a processor within its generation. E.g. i3 is for basic PCs. i5 is for gaming (at least now it is, there was a leap in power in the 13th generation when it went from a 6 to 8 core processor) and light technical purposes. i7 is for gaming and professional applications. i9 is for professionals doing technical simulations and heavy graphical design. It's similar to the third digit in an nVidia graphics processor (e.g. 3060, 3070, 3080 and 3090).

The first digit (or two digits now) following the i9 is the generation of the technology. So the game wants a top of the line 9th generation processor and the OP has a good, but not top of the line, 14th generation processor. 5 generations of processor are a much bigger difference than the i7-i9 difference. It would be like comparing his 4060 to a 980.
