They knew people wouldn't vote for it.

the jury holds 90%, and gamers' votes is only worth 10%

Customer vote counts only 10 %.
"Trusted Sources" like IGN, VICE, Polygon, LA Times and The Guardian,... decide. 😅

I think what happened is that Keighley realized he would lose all of his remaining credibility if he would let them vote/nominate Veilguard more than once. So he and his team probably made a preselection the access media can vote for.

If you would let IGN, VICE, Polygon, VG247, LA Times , PRIDE, Rolling Stone and Variety vote for whatever they want, every single category would be:

1. Dustborn
2. Concord
3. Veilguard
4. Suicide Squad
5. Star Wars Outlaws

We all know that they are 100 % about activism and pleasing the publishers which provide most of the Ad revenue and 0 % about rating the actual gameplay.

Not a single AAA western game made it into the GOTY nominations lol. Maybe they should start focusing on making fun games instead of pushing ideologies.

BioWare has disowned the game at this point and said there will be no post release content. They made no move to get it nominated and when journalists were able to express there actual options they gave it nothing but a nomination for having the best easy mode ever made

The EA paycheck didn't cover post-launch simping from the media outlets, who determine 90% of the weight of the Game Awards vote and also determine what games even get nominated.

EA should've bought the journalism DLC. :steamsalty:

Jury is still people. Here's your insight into what they actually think of the game, instead of what score they gave it.

If they would have been allowed to express their actual opinion, Black Myth: Wukong wouldnt have been nominated in any of those categories. It was clearly a pre-selected list, made by Keighleys team.

Yeah sure last 5 years best series I seen was From China, Japan, Korea, more. Wait nope, all high quality series of last years was from Western, but max 2/3.

They did video games instead? LOL, no.

It's almost like the reviewers gave it an inflated score because it promoted or aligned with their personal beliefs. But we all know game journalist would never sacrifice integrity for studio access or sexual favors.

It must be all the gamers.... The millions of individuals that can apparently come together for misogyny but not literally anything else.

The GOTY selections seem pretty safe in terms of controversy surrounding the games. It's definitely a step down from 2023 IMO - 2024 was just a down year for games overall. No real bangers this year.

Sure there were... Plenty of good game came out in 24.

Reading published reviews, the consensus seemed to be the game was good but not really anything special. I’m confused as to why this would be surprising.

Plus, there’s a final fantasy out this year. GotY awards just default to Square for whatever reason.

brother its like you skipped 2024. gamers have been winning since 2022. 2022-2024 gave us major bangers. sure there are woke games, but they barely affected the overall quality of the video game industry. i repeat, we've been winning bigtime since 2022
