Just realized - I've no idea what is Veilguard...

Im probably 75% of the story in - and I realized i've NO IDEA what the Veilguard meant... I didnt show up on any of the quests until now...had to google it

I feel fault is with me.. im probably slower and dumber than I thought ...but try as i might i cant seem to find out even once if the word "veilguard" is mentioned till now and its the TITLE of the GAME!

Most games have their title tie into the overall theme. Call of duty is about war. Battlefield is about the battle field. Kotor is about knights of the old republic

Final fantasy was meant to be their final game. Mass effects main thing is mass effect fields.

Is there any reference to guarding a veil? Or some kinda mechanic?

You are. Rook and the team. That is why Bioware changed the name, atleast officially, from Dreadwolf to Veilguard, because they wanted the story to be around the team instead of Solas.

Without getting into to much spoilers the premise of the game is stop Solas from tearing down the veil between the real world and the Fade,

The game was essentially finished when Bioware decided to change the subtitle from Dreadwolf to Veilguard, so they couldn't just up and rework dialogue to suit the change. That would require rewriting said dialogue, bringing the voice actors back in, and then spending time and resources updating the game proper. Not only would you have the monetary cost associated with the changes, but you've got time constraints, especially during the crunch period.

And, not that far in, it becomes clear that Solas isn't the only threat to the Veil. The game goes on for quite a while without bothering to emphasize this specific point, though.

you mean like from the very begining when you are trying to prevent solas from destroying the veil... (ie protecting it?) or the many quests throughout that are you destroying things caused by the veil being thin, or the various attempts by the venatori to use blood magic to weaken the veil? or the fact that you are trying to prevent the gods from bringing the veil down and unleashing the full power of the blight onto the world?

i mean its not exactly hidden...

The veil and the fade is lore that was introduced as far back as DAO. The veil is the barrier between the mortal world and the fade, a place where spirits and demons reside. Destruction of the veil will result in a world ending event.

There's more to it in this game, but the whole premise is Solas is trying to destroy the veil in order to recreate his ideal world as he views the current one as flawed. Varric and his team (of which you're a part of) are on a quest to stop the ritual that will begin this process. Don't really know how someone could miss that...

I don't play garbage and the story and writing was so horrific I zoned it out on the various youtubers i watch play it lmao. I can sit through 100 hours of a goofy visual novel but not this ♥♥♥♥♥. Very interesting however. Shame the writers are all 13 year old girls on wattpad
