You know, Darkspawn find arch demon.
Wage war.
arch demon dies.
darkspawn go underground to find another.
see i get the changing part. but think of this . an intelligent enemy is changed to generic zombie ... now why would you experiment/change to make something bad.
This a change for the sake of change .. does it really add anything to the game.. they removed genlocks again !
Also remember that darkspawn, are "born" from creatures or a person, that have been turned by the blight. So some of them keeping a mind, like a semi Warden, would make sense.
Probably the gods had to "overwrite" there minds, to get them back in control. At least that seems the most logical. It also fits with the Archedemon, rallying the darkspawn, during every major blight.
The role of the Grey Warden, was to be a "cure" for the curse that was the Archedemon, which is not a blighted dragon? The Warden, being the closest "source" of blighted blood, when it died, destroyed the "soul" of the Archedemon, preventing it from doing the "body jump" method to respawn in another darkspawn.
So basically, with the "new" blight, Grey Wardens are no longer needed, other then as a "darkspawn radar", I guess.
I agree, I personally dislike it. I appreciate the explanation of the change, but they should have just left them as is. The Darkspawn already are a group that want to be lead by the powerful, so I don't think they had to really change them.
I think they changed them because it was easier than making their presence fit into the story in a strategic way.
I didn't missed that and i found it not fitting with the lore that was in 3 games. It's cheap writing if you change so easy the way Darkspawn is and made them generatic pawn. Yeah, very exting .
My first Ogre i met in DAO was oh my god, that is a big thing. And it looked angry. The ogers in DAV are, sorry that i say this. Laughable, it was not oh my gosh he is big but i laughed because they look so goofy. Childish and not scary. I like to being get scared when i play, reason why i like to wtach horror movies. They don't even deserve to be named Darkspawn...
Hurlock, A human shaped one. Big strong capable fighters. Clad in heavy armor. hell they can even use magic.
Genlock, rouges, Snipers, these short creatures are amazing scouts. They can even shape shift.
Shrieks, Tall, lanky stealthy creatures. specializing as being assassins.
ogres, Yes we all know about them.
They had such verity. Such power behind them. They functioned like a real army. They were skilled and powerful. A real threat.
Ps. Brood mothers are also a thing. So they don't acutal need to turn people into Darkspawn. They can just bread thousands by making broodmothers.
I do agree, I laughed out loud when I saw that first Ogre. The change of them was a bad choice.
