Sources are a little conflicting, one says that it sold one mil but another says they only shipped one mil but no word on actual total sold. Either way its nowhere near what they need to sell.
No because shipped =/= sold. Shippped only refers to physical coppies. I'm sure a LOT more copies are digital in this day and age, so going by 'shipped' numbers should not be held as reliable. If they shipped 1M, they probably sold at least twice if not three times as much in total when you add in digital sales on Steam or other digital marketplaces.
No matter what people say they hear what they want to hear.
Game most likely sold more 1m, is that enough to cover cost we cant know because no one knows the budget of the game.
All we have are some made up number that range from 150m to 450m
Its like people dont understand we we talk about EA here. People seriously think that greedy company like EA actually spend more then 50m on a game?
That is way we have current age of gaming where people arent able to think by them self, they need someone to tell them.
As we all know the Game was in Kind of Development hell. It was questionable if there even would be a Halfway decent game at the end at all. You can assume that no way they thought the Final Game would Cover all Costs. Most Likely EA already wrote Off Most of the costs.
Considering this the Game is a decent success. If you have ca. 1 Mil copies shipped + digital sales + consoles I guess they made quite some Money.
On a sidenote I like the Game a Lot; and besides the weaknesses it has some really standout qualities, especially when it gets to staging, presentation, world Building and gameplay loop.

What EA will consider are the major complaints about the incredibly bad writing, the silly art style, and the game director's failure to make timely adjustments in this regard.
Without these failures, the game could have easily sold twice as many copies.
EA had better give the writing team and the game director the boot.
