Ya, D&D one doesn't look much better.
Pathfinder is still there for people who want more complexity.
I would say the majority of players never touched D&D before 5e and the current popularity surge.
a large amount of people bought the game EA because of the studio.
Not sure what is weird about my take? I was specifically focusing on companions, but there's much that is different between BG3 and DA.
Regarding lore:
BG3 is very free with lore as are all Larian games (divinity games are unable to keep consistent lore). While the exploration of lore is a central point of DA.
Mass Effect 3 multiplayer was great, Andromeda's was mid (though I liked that you could play as krogan women) and Inquisition's was terrible
