But this has nothing to do with Bios updates... vcore/watt can easy adjusted with our bios settings, there is no Bios update required for this changes... specially not regularly.
While this regularly Agesa updates is the biggest problem in history, i never would buy a AMD PC for that reason. Every Bios update can lead to a destroyed Mainboard and with Agesa you AMD User's need to update 8 times in a year, because of security problems?
Who is doing this? No one, besides some hardcore PC nerds and people who loves to destroy there hardware. Because AMD Mainboards 500-800$ are so cheap :)
Hey! I don't know if you could try cpuz, I ran it today because I wanted to check too before launch.
For me, the Agesa version was on the "Mainboard" tab, in the "BIOS" section and on the "Version" line.
Apparently I have 1.0.0.B, the date is 02/22/2023. Also, I bought my laptop in summer 2022.
Honestly this all looks quite complicated and risky to mess with, so now I'll just wait for launch and see if it's playable. If not, well, time to start saving for Geforce NOW and hope they have it from day 1!
If your BIOS is newer then July 2022, you're good
This AGESA is for older AMD CPUs, AM4 specifically. If you're using an AM5 socket your AGESA will be a higher version automatically, even though the number will be lower since those are newer sockets.
My BIOS Build Date says 2/23/2023. Also, how do I know if I have AM4 or AM5? My laptop's CPU is AMD Ryzen 5900HX. Thoughts and help appreciated :)
That's a later date then the recommended AGESA, but your CPU is FP6, which is AMD's mobile CPU equivalent of AM4, but either way it should be fine with that date, I wouldn't worry about it. Can always wait for release though, but it should be fine with the BIOS running that build date
Hello again, I emailed the company that emailed me the BIOS and EC files (Eluktronics), and I got a response back saying that my BIOS Version is cezanne pi 1.0.0.b. Does anyone know if that has the required AGESA? BIOS Build Date is 2/23/2023. Help and thoughts appreciated :)
As I and others have mentioned in prior posts. the required AGESA version was released in June 2022 so you should be ok as ffar as that goes your cpu uses a mobile chipset so am4 does not apply. All that said your bios version is old and there have been several security patches since your build. I wold recommend updating it but only if you know exactly what you are doing.
To do this, go to the manufacturer website of your motherboard manufacturer or your laptop manufacturer, download the latest BIOS version, load the BIOS onto a USB stick and install it in the BIOS under Bios Flash Utility.
If you don't dare to update the BIOS yourself, go to a hardware store or a hardware repair shop. They will do it for you for a few dollars...
My BIOS Build Date is from 2/23/2023. I am just concerned/confused because both CPUID CPU-Z, and HWiNFO Programs make no mention of what version of AGESA, if any is on my laptop...
Those programs dont list AGESA anymore on most hardware, with the build date you should be fine, it's mainly older CPUs that should think about updating, but you'd probably be experiencing issues in other games if you needed the update as well. AGESA before that date had some stuttering issues in certain games, which is likely why they're recommending an update in the Rec Specs.
So you're saying that for people like me with AM5 with bios from last 6 OF JULY 2024 with AGESA ComboPI 1.2.0.0a Patch A is in reallity a newer/updated version of what they listed?
In short:
AM5 AGESA ComboPI 1.2.0.0a Patch A and AM4 have their own agesa versions that at glance look like newer due to the being a number higher but the lower number on am5 version is actually the more updated?
If that is the case, EA or AMD should clarify it because i see a lot of people confused, in special with am5 and bios that are weeks old but show lower agesa number...
