I fully expect him to appear! He's also one of the characters having a direct contact connection with the inquisitor so I'd actually be very surprised if he was not in the game

The devs didn't confirm he appears. But they did say they based Tevinter's design off something he said. So I'd also be surprised if he didn't appear in some capacity. Unless they couldn't get his actor for some reason.

I'd be shocked if Dorian didn't at least have a cameo given how Inquisition/Trespasser ended.

I think it will be a toss-up between him and Varric to fully appear. Both the characters are larger-than-life and would dominate the story if they were a significant part of it. It may not be what the devs want (a fresh story with new heroes to discover, as it seems).

But I do believe we will at least hear Dorian's name mentioned all over Tevinter as his influence there must be significant.

Except he wouldn't be a 'gay' character any more. He'd just be another diversity-washed quote-on-quote "pansexual" or 'player-sexual' box ticked.

A remarkable aspect of his character simply erased.

So, personally, I'm quite glad they've put him out to pasture instead of poisoning his character with the current ideological trend.

That's fine. In this case it is just well written and he doesn't wear it like a badge.
Its not just put in for the sake of being woke.
Dragon age has always done it right.

I very much agree. He was probably my second favorite companion in Inquistion. (Sorry but my best friend as Inquistor will always be Varric.)

Dorian had alot of depth to him. Being a mage from tevinter and a son of a magister he had alot of expectations he didn't want to live up to, but also wanted to bring change to Tevinter. He was proud of his country's heritage (which is controversial as hell being a country that still has slavery) but wasn't blinded to its major flaws.

What was even better is his interactions with Iron Bull and Vivienne. (I could listen to the three them bicker back and forth for hours). Helping him through his family drama felt rewarding as well for character dev.

Overall I'd say he is my 4th favorite overall (Varric, Alistair and Merril take 1st 2nd n 3rd) and 2nd in Inquistion.
And since the new game takes place in Tevinter, I'd be surprised as hell not to see him and/or Iron Bull depending on player choices

I don't understand peaceably agreeing with somebody saying "I don't like the existence of queer characters in video games." But more than that, using woke unironically like it's a bad thing.

Representation matters and there can be never be enough of it. Like, coming out stories. Yeah, at some point, there are more stories to tell about gay people but it doesn't mean new ones won't resonate with a new generation of media consumers who for whatever reason never saw all the ones before.

Moreso than ever since there's a roving mob of hate-filled fascists descending upon any show, movie, or game that celebrates any form of diversity to infect them with bitterness and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the most dishonest way (i.e. looking at the idiots buying Dustborn just to give it a bad review then refunding it w/ like 15 minutes played).

Because its his opinion and he is allowed to have one. A story has to be good it doesn't matter who is represented. Representation is not important. I have never watched a movie or played a game and said " yea, that character represents me" I rather connect with characters motivation, personality and ideals.
I don't feel represented by sara just because she is kinda like me. But rather feel connected to dorian's story and personality.

I mean I wanted to get away from the political drama but it's everywhere right now so here's the thing, representation is extremely important. I'm going to assume you never felt like there was no one like you in media. I grew up before kids shows dared to show non straight relationships and ended up finally learning that the fact I found other wemon's breasts attractive wasn't evil from fanfiction of all places. I was desperate for that representation after having spent a lot of my life in a church with extreme enough rhetoric that they were saying the unavoidable thoughts were sins in and of themselves. It would have been very good for me to encounter positive representation earlier but I didn't and that made me more susceptible. This may be a political thing, but it's very important.

Yes, I did feel like that a lot. We were probably more similar than you think. But I grew up and learned the world isn't just about me or what I want. In fact, It made me stronger as a person. Overcoming challenges is a big thing in life. I had a family who taught me the things I needed and helped me through tough spots. Not TV, not video games. Games are entertainment, so is TV. Its also a businesses to make money. We don't need representation, We need friends and family with whom we can share our troubles. But you are fine with your opinion. Just don't be sad when one day companies see they make less money and decide to go back on everything they promised. Can we now drop it?
