if you want a good idea, look at the Witcher series of games. The rough Scottish or Irish accents work fantastically and just fit the dwarf characters. That's just fact.
Additional: For dwarves, I think Scandinavian accents would also fit well.
This part is just my opinion : American accents in fantasy games are like broken glass to the ears because most fantasy worlds have an ancient medieval feel. So new world accents just don't belong.
Considering the Dwarf in question has had the same voice actor and joke cracking for 3 games now, Have you even actually played any game in the series?
I don't mind being surprised... but in a good way. I honestly could barely make it through that trailer because it was SO cliched. Do I read? **k off. lol
Yes, I have played every game in the series, but honestly, to me Morrigan was the only interesting character. I find the others totally forgettable.
Oh with the exception of the 'wardog' character - whose name I forget now.
Shouldn't be surprised by accents in DA then.
If you had actually played them (and I'm not convinced) you'd remember that Varric was a dwarf who was born and raised in Kirkwall, which was a human town. Which is why he wouldn't talk with whatever accent you imagine dwarves should have (but didn't.)
And you could name the dog whatever you want.
Yeah I never got into the lore that deeply because I simply wasn't inspired to.
I will only fully 'nerd out' and actually learn the lore for games which I feel truly deserve it.
With this series of games, yes, and that's 100% fine. You can't be totally obsessive with everything. Grow up a little please.
Well that's fine. I just can't figure out why you're going out of your way to complain now about something you never paid attention to in the series.
I paid attention to the series, but not like a dribbling maniac.
And the trailer just made me cringe like hell.
And I care about the fantasy genre a lot. I want good RPGs with heart ..... not ones which are full of crap writing and cliches.
My bet will be that this game gets either mixed or very mildly positive reviews by overly generous gamers on Steam.
This is my last reply now. I am confident time and reviews will prove me correct about the general quality of the game. Have fun all.
How mature you are.
He sounded that way since Origins.
Now I know, you're saying "But he wasn't in origins!" But Brian Bloom did the voice of Leske, who had exactly Varric's voice, in the Dwarf Commoner story.
