I wanted Dark Fantasy
... Not their dark fantasies.

Forgive me Solas, but I would rather watch some lore videos and carry on, than playing... the mess i've seen these days not only on the gameplay trailer.

For those who liked the trailer, gameplay... I do, I do really want you to enjoy the game as I loved DA:O/A, even DA2 with the copy'pasta world and a lot of the stuff in DA:I. But i'm done with this new trend of "for newer audiences" iykwim.

Couldn't say it better. And the "dialogue wheel", they promised to go back to the roots or at least, to show what actually you would say but, nope. 2/3 options and generic neutral responses. I can't find any character role with those mechanics. Even DA2 with its flaws, was able to adress quickly your personality treat .

Some of the choices in the gameplay trailer looks like 2 choices that lead to the exact same ending. Like what's the point of trying to talk down Varric if he's going to go anyways? [/quote]

One of the things I loved from DA:O was the reunion / meeting with Alistair and Loghain, the things would change drastically regarding your own choices, not even to mention if you went fubar with Andraste's ashes and Leiliana was on the party. On DA:2 few options would do a change, most of them wouldn't . Varric as you said, Anders and ffs Orsino :steamfacepalm: . DA:I on the other hand, on the main campaign, altough lineal, I feel like that the sidequests / romance options grow better . BUT , on DA4 trailer, all answers provided felt ... kinda empty, vague, lack of nuance. Not even Hawke was that vague.

It might be me but, not a single thing shown made me feel hype, on the contrary.

Oddly enough, the move to a Mass Effect / simpler / action-y game probably means BW may need to go back to the glory days and have you make impossible decisions about who lives and dies. In other words: if the dialogue is simple, make it heavy/impactful/punchy.

Remember, the ME series was chock full of really hard calls, binary ones that you didn't necessarily like the outcome either way.

So more broadly I see the move to simpler dialogue system just making dialogue itself a casualty in Veilguard. Choices -- hard choices -- could very much still be in the game.

Characters? Yes, it's new look. Not sure I love it.

But the city of Minrathous? If I hear another person beef about a 'glowy' city, I will lose it. It's a city made of magic, run by mages. Of course it glows! It's not Denerim or something. I'm sure the game will have grim/grungy places to visit, crypts and ruins as well.

You've just never been there and can't imagine a place like this in Thedas.

From Tevinter Nights:

Yes, they have jobs do this! "Magisters come from important families. My family were slaves. I only became a citizen because after my magic came, the owner of the factory where we worked adopted me into his family. You know those glowing lights on the streets of Ventus? I light those with my magic. That's my job."

"For light, they chimed metal sticks against those glass globes, which began to glow. Oh, that sort of magic is everywhere in Minrathous. What they consider mere conveniences would delight and amazes us poor barbarians."

"You have to be impressed by Minrathous. It towers. Their titanic buildings block out the sun. Some even float in air, kept there by ancient, crackling magic."

So, yes, S--- GLOWS THERE. People need to stop acting like it was a questionable stylistic choice. It's not -- it's canon.

Okay, so you admit that you're mad at a writer and not an artist.

Own that, would you?
