But let’s not pretend that the current climate of progressive representation in games and entertainment isn’t rubbing a lot of people the wrong way. The problem isn’t the representation itself - it’s how it’s being handled. Too often, it’s preachy, heavy-handed, and takes itself way too seriously to actually be compelling. Instead of bringing people together, it forces everyone into polarized camps with no middle ground.
And well, EA has ‘restructured’ BioWare, and rumors suggest the Edmonton studio might be shutting down in the future. So while BioWare might still be around for Mass Effect 5, if it doesn’t perform well, it’s likely their last game. That means they can’t afford to alienate players - they need to make a grounded experience that appeals to a broad audience rather than pushing a specific ideological message.
And for the love of god, EA or BioWare should never hire the same person who made the first trailer for Veilguard ever again.
Anyway, have fun replaying the game.
If the next mass Effect is a success, they'll probably keep working on the only IP that's been successful for them in over a decade.
I don't think Dragon Age will return. the whole creative team was sacked, and Bioware is now a 1 team studio.
Maybe in ten years time, maybe from another studio. But the combo Bioware/DA is done.
I'm saying some people disliked them, and didn't like the game. That's fair and their right.
I loved those aspects about it, but it seems not everyone else did and it didn't sell as well.
This almost, almost, sounds like you are desperately trying to say you were wrong, without actually saying the words. But we both know that's not true, this is just more bait to farm clowns.
BioWare is healing
https://www.thegamer.com/dragon-age-the-veilguard-origins-2-inquisition-all-writers-directors-left-laid-off-bioware/
“After years of issues behind the scenes, it now seems that every writer who has worked on a Dragon Age game has left BioWare. The final blow came in the form of layoffs and restructuring earlier this week. Both of the directors of Dragon Age: The Veilguard have left too.“
So survival looks questionable to me unless ME4 would be a masterpiece. And if for DAV I said that Bioware magic is gone and people would judge it for what it is, for ME4 I would say that it would have negative expectations from the beginning. Which is sad for me as a ME fan.
Womp wooomp
you are 100% incorrect.
