Help with Formless One dragon fight
Hello all, first time through. I've been having trouble with the Formless One, dragon fight. It says recommended level 40, which I am. I'm a dual wielding rogue with maximized necrotic damage, and I bring along Emmerich and Harding, and set both to be able to heal me, because I find I get hit a lot.

I've been trying to pass this fight for the last hour or so, several times with different party members. I understand you need to hit the dragon to fill up the purple bar while doing damage to it and dodging its attacks. I read a guide online that says the best tactic is to hit its legs and move with it side to side.

I usually manage to get the dragon down to about half its HP bar, but I just can't get past this fight. I get in close to hit its legs, but it either hits me on my way there, or hits me after I get some swings in. I've tried to manage the healing/potion and I think I'm doing OK, but then I'll miss a dodge or the dragon will go off on me and suddenly my health bar is down again.

Any help would be appreciated.

I did this with a Mage on Nightmare using orb and dagger, so I don't know how much my advice will help. This particular fight is probably the hardest dragon fight because of the adds and barrier it keeps putting up.

The first tip is: never stand in front of the dragon. Behind it is the safest spot because it telegraphs its leg sweeps making them easy to dodge, and it has to turn to charge you giving you time to get out of the way. Essentially you want to attack one of its hind legs and when it sweeps, you dodge to the other hind leg and keep attacking. If it flies up, get back as quickly as possible to avoid the slam attack. If it does it's tripple lightning shot attack just keep running left or right and the attacks will miss you. For any other attacks, try to stay close and get behind it.

The second tip is: bring either Davrin or Tassh with you as well as Bellara. Bellara is the best healer and Davrin and Taash can taunt the dragon, which is useful when you have to deal with the adds. You can also get an okay heal out of the taunt.

The third tip is: try to save your abilities for if you'e going to get hit. You can use the I-frames to avoid damage.

I hope this helps.

Got it, will try this. Thank you!
I finally beat him! It took me about half an hour. Thank you. As you suggested, I tried my best to stay away from his front at all costs, and sell out to whale on his back legs, occassionally going to his front legs (one the side) when they lit up as weak points. I switched my rune from a leech type to one that granted temporary invulnerability.

When I really had trouble was when I got it down to the maybe last 1/5 of its health bar. It started spazzing out more, and hitting me a lot more often even though I was using the same strategy - suddenly all of my potions were gone, and one revive. When that happened, I didn't use my companions for anything other than heals, except once and a while using Emmerich's slow time so I could get just a couple of last hits in there.

I'm really glad it's over. Thank you.
