No clown award from me, you need to get more creative.
Think Batman v Superman ... If Clark just told Bruce that his mother has been kidnapped than they could have skipped that pointless fight scene. In the end that information was exactly what calmed Bruce down. But no, they went the path of miscommunication and let him say stuff like "you don't understand".
Taash story was the same thing ... Why did her mother storm out after the dinner scene in the lighthouse? She clearly knew that non-binaries existed in Qunary society and (as we later find out) she does accept Taash the way she is. So she could have just said: "my dear, i love you. no matter who or what you choose to be". Then we would have been done with her gender issues and and could have fully focused on the important fact that she is a F**IN FIRE BREATHER.
Again, the writers chose the path of miscommunication to drag out this aspect of that character instead of focusing on the fire-breath thing.
Iron Bull hinted that Qunary are descendent from dragons so it would have been interesting to delve deeper into that lore, instead of a lame 2 line conversation with the "translator".
Sadly such descision show me that the writers wanted to focus more on real-world issues instead of the lore of Dragon Age. I hope that this comment makes it more clear why so many people hate this game.
