Both are completely different games so I'd say pick which one sounds better to you. If you're more interested in a grindy Diablo-styled arpg with a ton of build options, content, and more content to come, not to mention the presence of other players then POE2. If you'd rather play a single player RPG with actiony combat, no multiplayer, and more focus on story than gameplay then Veilguard.

Yes they are different. But - you will never be happy again if you chose PoE2. Its early access and it has to many problems and bugs than diablo and last epoch together.

Obviously POE 2 . is this even a real question?
i havent played poe 2 but i did play tons of poe, and poe 2 just seems like its going to be very difficult esp for newbies lol

but one thing that is for sure, it probably has better writing than veilguard and that's not even it's strength.

Get any of the previous DA games, or PoE 2, I cant recommend this game in good faith, whereas PoE 2 looks great, at least to me.

Path of Exile 2 is in Early access. The progress you make now will not translate to the final release of the game. This might either be a good or a bad thing depending on how much time you have or want to play it.
I always get full games over EA (BG3 was an exception back in 2020 because it was Larian - if you are familiar with the studio).

such a good state, therefore all the sales and very high likelihood oh the company scaling or closing down, huh? man, if only it wasn't complete they could at least still pretend it'd become something other than what it is LOL

PoE wins this comparison even if it were not yet playable.

PoE is a completely different genre so I have no idea what you'll enjoy more.

Played PoE 2 during the last weekend and personally don't enjoy it that much but I'm also not the target audience of these types of games. What I found boring was how large the maps are, filled with too much trash mobs and too few bosses and the loot felt very bad. I didn't run into any major bugs however and the game feels smooth, didn't expect that I'd be able to play it on release day but it somehow worked which impressed me.

I personally didn't find PoE2 too difficult (only completed act 1 and being in mid act 2 however) but I've seen lots of people complaining about the difficulty and wouldn't recommend it if you don't like challenging games.

Only buy this game if being lectured at for 40 hours is a fetish of yours.

PoE 2 because it is free.
DAV will probably be on sale during Steam Christmas sale.
Be patient young Padawan.

EDIT: Oh. Path of Exile 2 isn't free.

It's early access right now, so it's not the final, complete release. So chances are it's full of bugs anyway. Not saying that the OP should buy this game, because it's not worth the price, but I wouldn't necessarily play PoE2 right now either.

The reason they charge for this early access is likely to keep a lot of people out who aren't serious about helping the game develop moving forward. Trolls and such.
