Worth it for $39?
I liked the other games in this series, but I have heard mostly bad things about this game. I want to play it and $39 seems like a good price, but is it worth it or would I wait for it to go lower in price?

Depends if you're part of the "woke hate" or not. There's one character which dialogs are infantilizing and those haters really really hate it.

Beside that it's a good action RPG. Story is mostly fine, lore is interesting, graphics are breath taking and combats are satisfying. I paid full price and think it was worth it. There's about 100h of gameplay.

I don't know anything about this Woke stuff... I'm not FOR It or AGAINST It... I really don't care. But as far as the game goes; I'd say it depends on your taste. I Love DAO, and have been playing it Repeatedly for Years... yet... I didn't care for DA:Inquisition, and couldn't finish it. But this game; which I JUST started playing about 3 or 4 days ago... I just can't get enough of it. GREAT Gameplay. GREAT Story. A Bit Complicated with the Combat Interface; but that's because there are lots of choices (Attack Wise). And I'm really Feeling the distinct personalities of my Companions. For Me this is a Good Buy... No Regrets.

But I do wish more Devs would offer a Demo... it seems to me that if you're confident in your game You'd offer a Demo so folks would see how Awesome is Your Game.

If you liked past Dragon Age games (particularly inquisition) and like Bioware's style of game.

Yes, it is the best that Bioware has been in a long time. Still not their best especially when compared to Mass Effect. But better than they have been for a long time and they are on the right track.

The problem with "hearing bad things" about this game is the downstream effect from the people upset about characters that don't think or look like them. With them it's obvious what they are complaining about. But this has started a downstream effect that people that have never played the game are hearing its bad without hearing about why people have a hate campaign about it. Then they continue saying its bad and eventually no one really knows why they are saying its a "bad game".

For example, I heard from one of my gay friends recently about how the game is "apparently really bad". He never played it, but just heard. People are making a decision based on just hearing "bad game" now.

That doesn't mean the game doesn't have problems, it isn't perfect but no game is. I think it was worth it at full price.

Worst case, download the demo or buy it and keep an eye on your playtime so you can refund if you don't like it.

Most likely not. But you can form your own opinion after watching actual game play with no commentary.

70% of people didn't finish the game after 2 months. You tell me if its worth it.

If you're thinking about it you should get it, have fun on your own accord, don't let people gaslight you about what games you think you'd enjoy :p2cube: (Especially when they don't have the game publicly listed on their steam account)

It's objectively a bad game.

The gameplay is extremely simplistic, the progression is really dumbed down and enemies are stupid and spongy. They also look like something from a kid's cartoon, no dark fantasy feeling whatsoever. I suggest you look up how ogre or the darkspawn look in this game.

The characters are on fanfic levels of complexity it really shows they weren't written by professionals - discussions are redundant same information gets relayed to you every 10 seconds and 'banter' is your companions telling you what to do over and over again. Again, more infantilism. Only notable exception is Emrich, no wonder its writer left BW after release.

The story itself is banal, all old characters are shelved and rewritten to match the general low quality of writing, none of your previous decisions matter either. You get told the antagonists' name at least 5 times every conversation, again infantilism.

The puzzles are made for 5 year olds seemingly, it's follow the bright line and press/shoot whatever is on the end.

I guess the game's target audience is the 10 year old tiktok generation suffering from attention deficit. Or maybe that's what the developers were capable of.

I'm noooticing that you don't actually own the game.

Yes, it's worth the current price.

This game was Dragon Age in name only. It's very much a shallow, "we can overcome anything if we try hard enough", experience. CohhCarnage, a popular streamer, said he finished the game feeling like he played "Life is Strange", which I agree with, It's comparable to books you'd find in the young adults section in the library. But if that doesn't sound off-putting, you'll probably have a good time with this. There's a lot to like in terms of graphics, environments, and voice acting.

This seemingly will blow your mind - game is accessible outside of steam as well.

Yeah Kaolan Enjoyer is just trolling you. They know they also don't have the game on steam, yet their next post gives an opinion on the game.

The gameplay is fun, but woke stuff aside, the lore is watered down ALOT now. Racism against Elves and Dwarves? Gone. Tevinter as the evil blood magic loving ruthless slavers? Gone. The Crows as a bad guy assassination based mafia? pretty much gone. Basically they boiled it down to the only really bad guys being darkspawn because i guess monsters are safer as bad guys? Cant have grey morality, or Dark fantasy worlds anymore.

No. It is not worth it :( That's like paying $39 for a McDonald's kid's meal boxed up to look like a fine dinner. You open it up and get a joke toy.

The game is fantastic. I have gotten so much play time out of it. I bought it full price on EA and have played it so much it came to less than 1$ per hour of play time and I am not even done the game yet. If you are a bigot you might not like it though because it addresses how to respect people of different cultures and identities.
