A question about what comes AFTER the release.
Hello BioWare.

I'm really looking forward to “The Veilguard”, but I have a question. Will there be any addons or gameplay relevant DLC's? Because I'm the kind of gamer who plays a game all the way through (that means with addons) and then starts another one. I'm sure I'll buy the game before then :Fistofdosh:, but I'll wait until all the addons are released before playing.

Greetings from Käpt'n.

It's very likely there will be DLC.

I can't remember the last Bioware game that didn't have DLC to expand the story, and usually add on to the ending. Jade Empire and Kotor I guess, but even BG2 had it's story finished in a post-release expansion.

Noone knows, and those who say they do lie.
Chances are if it's reasonably sucessful, there will be content DLCs tho. If it flops hard (Edit: Yes, like Andromeda), probably not.

Andromeda didn't though. I wish it had. Quarian Ark DLC my beloved.

Yes, I have to think Andromeda too.

Because it's unusual that the “Deluxe Edition” doesn't come with any game-relevant extras and 20€ just for skins is kind of strange for a single-player game.

I just wonder if they're approaching add-ons more cautiously after the Andromeda fiasco. That would be a shame. BioWare has always made really good add-ons. That's why I had the question. I don't have such a problem waiting. The last expansion of “Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous” came out this June (so about 3 years after release). I could wait for that too. :amadeus_happy:

Might just be able to mod them in post release lol

I hope not. I am 100% for mods that add new player-created content. But a mod that simply makes something that normally costs money free is kind of piracy.

Now is $20 for a few skins a good deal? No. But then just make do without the skins. Leather seats in a car are probably not worth $2000 either. But that doesn’t mean you should just steal them from the dealership when nobody is looking.

But if someone makes their own custom leather seats, more power to them.

Veilguard's director said that there are no plans for dlc and specifically stated that Trespasser should have been part of Inquisition's base game. So, basically, I don't think it's a situation where an important story dlc will drop after the initial release. We should get a complete experience with the base game. (Not that that excludes them from adding some fun extras if the game does well.)

I have to agree, Bioware games are probably the only ones I'll buy all available content, instead of cherry-picking what suits my tastes.
At the same time though, I disagree with their (old ?) marketing tactics of putting major storylines in optional DLCs. Trespasser is the de facto true ending of Inquisition, and should have been a simple update; Leviathan should have been including in Mass Effect 3. One could even argue Javik should not have been in a DLC.

So I definitely agree with you about “Trespasser”. But “Leviatan” and “Javik” only provide additional information about the overall picture of Mass Effect. The story would end the same way without them.

3 years is a lot of time, I admire your patience. If I went back to WotR now I wouldn't remember anything.
I think DATV is in a weird position where it's been 10 years since the last game, and they know fans are getting too impatient to wait even longer for possible DLCs.

Yes, that's why I prefer to wait. If I came back after 3 years, I'd be at a point between what I still know and what I've forgotten. I mean, I have over 700 games. I'm certainly not going to run out of alternatives, so waiting isn't such a problem.

And to all those allergic to intelligence:

This is a real question and not another space to get rid of your troll ♥♥♥♥. You ARE ignored AND reported to Steam. Trolling is not allowed according to the comment rules.

That is not what I said. You have either missed my point or are misinterpreting me on purpose.

Let's say you are selling apples and someone steals an apple from you then you have an apple less to sell. The person now has one for free because they stole it from you.

Software piracy would basically be making a copy of one of the apples you are selling. Now yeah they've received one for free but you can still sell this one. Is it ethical? Usually, no.

However if someone wishes to mod in these cosmetics because they didn't want to pay extra money or to not support these practices then I won't judge them.

Also I am currently checking EA and Steam. You pay 20 bucks for some armor sets and weapon skins. I think they should put in more stuff to actually make it worth it like a cool statue or art book. 80€ is a lot and they're not offering much of value for that money here imo. Wouldn't blame anyone for just modding it in post release ngl.

Intellectual property is still property. Nike probably spends hundreds of millions designing and advertising and licensing the next Air Jordans, and probably only a couple dollars to make each pair. They sell them for $150+. That doesn’t mean you can steal a pair, leave $2 on the counter. And call it even.

Pirating a game, or game content, is still stealing. So is sneaking into a movie. Or sharing a Netflix account outside your household.

Just because a lot of us may have done it when we were younger doesn’t make it morally correct, especially now when we could absolutely afford to pay for it, but choose not to.
