As to art style, that’s a preference thing. As to UI, I will say that good design often scales.
I appreciate a clean, contextual UI with easy-to-identify information, and which doesn’t feel like it is taking you completely out of the game.
Having abilities on a centered wheel, instead of bottom bar, for example, minimizes pause time and eye fatigue.
And having companions move and react within menus makes those menus feel less divorced from the main gaming experience.
As for the art style, playing Inquisition for 10 years now with almost 4000 hours. Veilguard is not my taste, far from it. Had hoped and i must say that was what i had in my mind for 10 years, for a more realistic style. An almost ,'I can feel the skin realistic kind of game'. I am not 18 anymore for a long time. I had hoped for an more adult art theme...
happy to know that mod makers will make this DA more mature then it is now
As far as the UI, the devs have stated that some things can be turned off so I think they are making it to where you can change certain UI things to show or not to. Like the damage and health bar I would imagine you could turn those off as developer mentioned in one play they turned off their own health bar, and the arrows that show where damage is coming from they said those can be turned off as well. They also have stated there is gore and blood that can be turned on or off. In many of the videos of game play shown the blood is likely off so the videos do not get age restricted on youtube. It seems customizable from what devs have said but we will see just how customizable the UI is on release.
I guess I'm just Used to the series going towards a realistic character design in the previous games.
I'm sure it makes Leliana happy too.
It’s a popular niche , just not amongst those who liked the dark gritty and powerful looking characters of Dragon Age Origins/DAI etc
It’s ok to have different tastes, but pretty characters and a Disney aesthetic for the design of the game just isn’t appealing to fans of dragon age. Like they had characters like that in all of the games…now every character looks feminine and weak.
Maybe Yo”rr is experiencing some complicated feelings when he looks at Lucanis’ cheekbones, and doesn’t know how to express those feelings other than by lashing out.
