I agree that the one in the gameplay video looks pretty terrible, but I hope that it is just a really badly created custom Rook.
I highly doubt they have included any better complexions for the face or better horns since all we've seen are the exact same style. The face paint/tattoo does very VERY slightly mask the issue I suppose...
I think modding the game is the last hope for any visual improvement. Unfortunately the engine has proven difficult to make mods for before so it will likely take time before people figure it out.
The entire game is non-binary. BioWare invented a new law of physics allowing an electrical circuit to achieve a third state where it is neither off nor on. Phase two will be to force this transcurrent into all of your appliances, starting with your children's toys and your wife's marital aids.
