Oh my gosh, yes. Those beige pajamas were the worst. Criffyzou, I commend your priorities. Fashion is definitely a good factor to consider.
I hear you! I think the Grey Wardens are the ones I'm least likely to start with because we've already played one in origins, but that nostalgia is tempting. And it'll be cool to see if there are big differences between Rook's group of Grey Wardens and the Hero of Ferelden's. Zevran definitely got me interested in the Antivan Crows too. I think they'll be a good faction if you want to play a more morally ambiguous Rook.
???
I dub your ship name to be NeCROWmancer. Lol. You'll take them out and Emmrich can raise them back up. Or something like that. I approve of these choices. I'm actually really excited about Emmrich. He seems so interesting. (And so does the Mourn Watch, but I feel like I'd have to go into that faction with a specific concept for my character that I'm not necessarily going to have for my first time through.) I too have faith that the crows know what they're doing when it comes to fashion. And I hope Rook does have some kind of special relationship with whoever their faction member is. It doesn't need to be deep or anything, but a bit of history would go a long way to make the faction aspect more fullfilling.
Shadow Dragons seen to tie into the region a lot. Currently planning on playing a somewhat belligerent city elf to contrast my inquisitior who was reasonable to fault.
Yes I feel you, for the new factions I feel like I'll need to know more about them and get a feel for them before I can make a Rook with that background. I'll definetly try them all at some point.
Nevarra has always been of some interest to me the moment I learned they were big enough on necromancy to basically have a big-ass necropolis in their capital city.
Of course, I'll have to pick either Warrior or Mage for that, since they have the Mourn Watch-themed specializations.
And of these two, I might just pick Warrior. I'm really interested to see what the Reaper spec's schtick is all about.
Same. I will probably play Crow rogue first to romance Davrin and Shadow Dragon mage second to romance Lucanis.
Saaaaame. I keep trying to think up story reasons why I should be this or that, but then I think: but what if pirate? (Which, I don't think the game lets me be a literal pirate, but that spirit is there.) I'm definitely going to have to do a Lords of Fortune run at some point.
True. The stuff we've seen so far does seem to favor the Shadow Dragons background. And it's definitely a good faction for a belligerent city elf! If any race has personal reasons to be against slavery, it's elves. (Being an elf also makes the relationship to Solas more interesting.) I think you've got a good combo going! And that contrast between your Rook and Inquisitor should make things more interesting too-- especially since the Inquisitor is going to play some kind of role in this game!
I feel like the Shadow Dragons and Lords of Fortune are general enough (vibe-wise) for me to consider picking them first, but I think I can make a Veil Jumper and Mourn Watch Rook I'm happier with after learning more about those factions. But yeah, the plan is to at least try them all at some point! Even if I don't do full playthroughs for every single one.
Who doesn't love a good rebel faction? It's why I'm considering them too. Also, you do make a very good point about all the Antivan Crows being super hot. Lol. That's going in the pro category for sure.
Haha, fair! Why does Davrin get all the cool stuff? You sign up to fight darkspawn, you should get a Griffon as a signing bonus. (Obviously, there's lore reasons why that'd be a bad idea, but being sad is a fair response.) We'll have to settle for recruiting Davrin and making Assan the group pet.
Whoops! People responded while I was writing my response! Edit time!
The Mourn Watch sounds so interesting to me! It's probably the faction I'm actually the most interested in-- even if I'm thinking it won't be the one I do my first playthrough with. And yeah, warrior might be the way to go! The reaper stuff seems really cool!
Those sound like fun combos!
