that is astounding. I had imagined a frostbite game to be buggy at release. good work on their part.

if you're gonna get this game at some point, get it on PC for the mods alone. yeah frostbite sucks for mods but people still make it happen.

what would we do if it wasn't for the many nerds fixing the game for us. that's what I imagine todd might say to his rich friends.

Wild thing is even considering that Frostbite sucks, mods work wonders with even Andromeda.
Be real interesting to see what they do with Veilguard.

Sounds really good even at lower end specs. Should be the minimum bar for a release but we are where we are and Bioware seem to have done a good job with a playable and stable release build.

Game seems to even run decently on Steam Deck with around 30-40 FPS on low graphic settings.
Which is not a small feat for a new AAA release in 2024.
Especially on a finicky engine like Frostbite.

I'm hearing it was optimized to work well on the Steam Deck at launch, so that could be why it seems so polished.

that is insane. for that reason alone I hope people consider not completely bashing the game and praising them for it. especially in this day and age in which games are not fixed even years after release.

Finally a PC version of a AAA game that is well done.

"Our Dragon Age: The Veilguard coverage begins with the PC tech review. This is by some measure the best triple-A PC multi-platform release we've seen in a long, long time."

^^ Loved seeing them post that on twitter, then watched the video. Looks great.

The one interesting thing I noticed is even on the worst reviews, I didn't see any mention of bugs or performance problems. Which is almost unheard of these days at release.

If anyone prefers reading over youtube videos, many of the same points from Alex Battaglia here: https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2024-dragon-age-the-veilguards-pc-port-is-polished-performant-and-scales-well-beyond-console-quality

It is polished with a smart user experience, it is smooth running where it counts - and as a PC version should, it offers noticeably higher fidelity than console equivalents, tapping into the strengths of the platform. It's a game that deserves praise - if not flat-out celebration - in that its execution is just so good, running well on mainstream hardware right up to the best of the best.

I found one but it's from a site on metacritic that I have never heard of before. he mentioned some problems with visuals but and a few minor glitches.

Perhaps, but I generally find their performance reviews to be trustworthy...
is this true? then why is ign doing their own performance reviews? I thought DF belonged to eurogamer?

IGN Entertainment owns Gamer Network which owns Eurogamer which DF is affliated with and is partially owned by.
