How necessary are skill combos/detonations? Can I bring whoever I want regardless of class?

Hello, something I've been thinking about for a bit. I want to main an ice focused Evoker and I really want to include Neve in my party. However, as some of you may know that there's no skill combo to detonate there. Sure there maybe some overlap or cold/freeze bonuses due to the status effect passives and what not.

From what I've seen I would NEED a rogue type ala Lucanis or Harding if I wanted these skill combos. My question is... can I just go a full mage party for example and it would be decent? Or would I need the trinity or one of each "class"?

One last question - does anyone know if I NEED a certain companion in my party to build rapport with them?

the devs mentioned they had in mind people getting attached to characters, so i don't think there will be too much of a problem with party combinations. afaik there are quests where certain companions are required for story reasons but otherwise i think it will be all decent and viable. of course we don't know for sure until we play but i hope so!

I assume combo importance matters on higher difficulties while on lower ones you can just do your own thing.
