Trans options
Everyone is freaking out over the option to be trans as if it isn’t just an option in an RPG. Providing the player with more options is never an issue, especially in situations like this where you can just not be trans lmao

Don't you dare be rational, OP.

Exactly! It’s an RPG where trans people should have that option, especially considering it’s incredibly easy for cis people to just not use it

Edit, I misread this post lmao

Do you want me to type “people who are not transgender” each time? Not sure what the issue is lol

This is my primary issue with the subject. No one wants to be trans, they just want to be what they feel like. If you feel that you're a woman, you would pick a woman.

If you feel specifically like a transperson, then you're just using it like a fad. You're not actually different, you just want to feel like you are. That's not something we should be encouraging, so it bothers me when I see this stuff in games.

It's not just an option though. One of the companion's whole personality is just being trans and doesn't stop talking about it so its not something you can just ignore. You are forced to be supportive of a trans companion in a fantasy rpg.

But the agenda, op. The AGENDA. You can't just ignore the completely optional option in a role playing game when there's an AGENDA.

I keep casting healing magic but the mastectomy scars wont go away. This blatant anti-caster propaganda belittles my identity as a mage. Do better, bioware.

Or maybe a trans person could find the representation cathartic. Or maybe a cis person could play a trans character and be given an example of what it's like to be trans. I don't know any trans person that wants transness to be hidden.

Why do games need "trans options"? If you are trans, just play as the opposite gender you don't identify as. Both are generally options in almost all RPGs. If I was actually trans, I feel like I would be ironically insulted that "trans options" are in games to help me identify as such. A trans woman doesn't want to be labeled as trans only, but a woman. Vice versa for trans men. You are basically making trans people "their own thing" which has nothing to do with transgenderism. All you are doing is reinforcing these people that they really aren't who they think/want to be. Don't people see the irony?

I cannot fathom caring about this that much - just don't pick the trans option :lolskull: it's quite literally that simple.

That's because you only know transtrenders.

You don't ♥♥♥♥ about me or the other trans people I know, so I suggest you stop right there.
Ask an actual trans person, every single one of them will tell you they don't want 'trans' to be their personality, and would rather you just talk to them like a person.

To quote: 'I'm not a 'trans woman', I'm a woman. Why would I try to identify with something that's brought me so much pain?'
Obviously we don't want being trans to be our whole personality, but there's a vast difference between that and wanting stories about being trans out in the wild for people to experience and, hopefully, learn from.

It would also be simple to make a game with some appeal to the audience that is the majority in this type of game...

Nothing about this game has sexy appeal, badass character, brutality, etc... and there is no way to convince anyone who is used to playing these types of games that there is anything like that in this game.

Incels on a steam discussion boards =/= the majority. Only time will tell how well the game sells. Cyberpunk did just fine.

Pretty much this. It's why "passing" was a thing up until a few years ago. Actual trans people just want to be treated as the gender they feel like and otherwise be ignored like everyone else.

The people who specifically identify as "trans" are just doing it because it's trendy right now. It's not trendy, it's a legitimate condition. There's a difference between accepting differences and glorifying them, and this type of thing is firmly the latter.
