Head of Publising for Larian Studios has high praise for Veilguard

I’ve been playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard in complete secrecy (behind my backpack at the office in front of a giant window, in the kitchen). From me, you may be wondering “is this a game compatible with my experience during BG3” so I’ll tackle it from that perspective.

The answer is yes. It is to a heavy, 9 season long show what a well-made, character driven, binge-worthy Netflix series is.

It has a good sense of propulsion and forward momentum. The combat system is honestly brilliant (to me, a mix of Xenoblade & Hogwarts which is giga-brain genius). It knows when it needs a tentpole narrative moment, and it knows when to let you toy around with your class and exploit some of its stronger elements.

More important, to me, it feels like the first Dragon Age game that truly knows what it wants to be.

In short, if you want some character driven romping with a strong combat system in a universe you know, love, or have heard of, it is much better than the average action game, and much less heavy than the gargantuan RPGs that may intimidate at times. In a word, it’s fun!

To me, I’m extremely happy BioWare gets to stick around - presumably - in these uncertain (because of moronic corporate greed) times. An existential game, and a fun one at that.

What's that, a Disneyfied shell of a game with horrible writing like "HR is in the room," boring characters and hamfisted social messages shoved down the players' throats every 30 seconds?

I guess BG3 was a happy accident. Because if this is what the "Larian Studios Head" thinks is good, then I fear for the future of that studio.

Bioware is dead. This game is selling like ♥♥♥♥, and won't sell any better with word of mouth.

and Even still the writing is on the wall when it comes to this game because even before release the game was showing all the warning signs. The people who are saying all the negative things in their Youtube reviews have a Valid point . and they clearly show that on the screen in their gameplay.
I would trust people like that vs someone who just blindly praises the game,

This is extremely promising! Someone reputable is saying the game has an extremely good story, with a gigachad brilliant combat system, in a world thats apparently faithful to the franchise (a world you know and love). This would indicate that this game should be an easy 10/10 as there's not a single criticism levied whatsoever.

I am absolutely sure this game will flawlessly live up to these expectations.

Ah, yeah. After reading that X's thread he's indeed that guy, hahaha. I'm not sure about his opinion being indicative of the game being good and not a pile of bantha poodoo like Outlaws, lol.

isnt he also the same guy who is trashing on Ubisoft lately about "Devs should get used to not having job" or something along that line lol. Basically calling out Ubisoft stupid marketing/business tactics are dumb.

One thing is roasting the industry because of how it's obviously failing to meet customer's needs, which is something that can be seen objectively by looking at the data, and another one is to have a personal taste that can be taken as a guarantee of a game being objectively good. Neither of those conflicts with the other, and I'm just pointing out that he has a history of his personal opinions as a gamer not being the latter. Facts != opinions.

Yeah he over did it. All these journalists claiming this is the best bioware or dragon age game are over doing it. Even if you like this game, I cant fathom how you'd say that this is better than peak mass effect, kotor, origins or inquisition. It just reeks of someone trying to sell me a story
