I don't care what reviewer's opinions are on the game, I only care what they say about the objective parts of the game like mechanics, skill trees, etc.
Veilguard has me interested enough to keep an eye on it to see if there are performance issues at launch and try it out if there aren't.
I do feel for Bioware devs here, BG3 did drop a live grenade in front of them, I doubt I can expect RPG as detailed as BG3 here, but at the same time they had plenty of old RPGs to be inspired from and learn so my expectations shouldn't be lowered. Sucks for them if they don't reach those expectations.
Gonna wait either way for player reviews to see what people have an issue with and what they liked before I buy.
I play loads of strategy games but not every rpg game should be party strategy. If you follow the genre in general there has also been a shift in strategy combat from real time with pause to turn based and in the other direction to action rpg which DA took. A criticism of action rpg (including previous DA games) is they are a bit lackluster on combat and from what I see they tried to make this a better pure action game than some where in the middle. I personally though combat in Inquisition was a bit boring.
RIP
How is the romance handled? If it's fairly discreet then this may be a nice 'first epic RPG' for a bairn for Christmas if BG3 is just that bit too grown-up in subject matter and how it handles it.
From what SkillUp said there was no sex scene that he found. He romanced Harding I believe. It doesn't seem nearly as graphic as Baldur's Gate 3. Veilguard seems very squarely targeted at teenagers.
I think the "safe" part is my biggest irk from what I'm seeing. It's an 18+ game, but they aim the game at kids?
Even Skyrim that I would argue is a weak RPG gave you more opportunities to be evil and do fked up ♥♥♥♥ than this it seems. Such a shame for a Role Playing Game.
Thank you. Sounds about right for what you're saying, doesn't it? Hope those who do vibe with it have a great time, just a bit of a shame that it seems Bioware didn't feel they could take more risks and add a little bit of bite to a Dragon Age game.
I do think it's a shame, yeah. I was expecting at least Inquisition's tone to be continued, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Don't take my word as gospel on the sex scenes btw, especially if you're considering getting this for a younger gamer. It could be that the reviewer just missed it. lol
