I believe it returns to the DAO kind of linear world

Its much more linear than Inquisition, from what I understand you will be sent on missions to different areas, there is still room to explore e.g spotting a chest and figuring out how to get to it (some of these will require you to bring a follower who can deal with the puzzle/return later)

But its nothing like Hinterlands in Inquisition etc

It will be more or less a linear world with the possibilities to go left or right in some areas as far as I have learned from game magazines...

Sounds good DA:I was terrible.

From what I've seen it looks to take pages out of the Me2/Me3 playbook. More mission oriented style rather then large open spaces with PoI etc...

They said it's mostly linear missions, though there are some open areas with side quests and optional treasures/bosses.

The open world in DAI was the worst part of that game, and felt very MMO-ish and boring. I'm really happy that this time it's going to be a much more scripted and focused adventure - like the first Mass Effect games.

Linear and it was a wise decision, they realized they had no talent for making open world games

from what I've seen the levels look a lot like DA 2, you just follow corridors killing things. This made me lose any interest in this game

I m absolutely fine with no "open world" which means there wont be a mandatory checklist of crap to do that every other game that features an "open world" seems to have - Take over bad guys camp, climb high tower to unlock extra points on interest on the map, animals and legendary animals to skin for weapon upgrades, boring fetch quests that add nothing to the story or world, many many icons to distract you from making your way through the games main story... Games like the Witcher 2, Final Fantasy 16, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect is where its at - dosnt take 150 hours to beat.

Funny, I like open world games for exactly those reasons. It's almost like people have differing tastes... IMO, the best games take 1000's of hours. Because they are the best.
