It has surgery scars of course it's going to get high scores from all the usual suspects.

If the score is too low, they will look like bigots. They will not risk the backlash even if the game is poor quality.

IGN will rate this 8/10 as minimum anything DEI involved IGN rates 8/10

Better question is what does a game have to do to get rated less than 7 on IGN? They rate all the AAA slop 7 minimum, while actual good games are thrown in the trash. Don't ever use IGN to inform your decision on which games to buy.

If you understand IGN... it will get an 8.5/10 (meaning either an 8 or 9).

For a 10:
- Spectacular & Memorable Story (with moral values).
- Great gameplay (or awesome).
- No controversy (or limited).
- Something that you can replay down the years (and not feel "ashamed" or that it has aged "poorly")

10/10 aka "Legendary Status" is hard :)

Most IGN gave is 8 Dragon Age games
I agree with the others here; 8 at a minimum from IGN if not a 9 or even 10
Steam Review score tho? Now that'd be interesting... I'd say "Mixed" at least

^ That sounds accurate.

They need to be unknown, then they will not get a 7, but a 5

So review is monday ? trust steam reviews?

The days of game websites reviews being relatively unbiased are long gone. Rock, Paper, Shotgun are the main one I still follow and Eurogamer can still give out a good one on occaision. Haven't read an IGN review in eons.

I find player reviews more interesting and will read both positive and negative - the negative to see if there are any real flaws in the game or if it's just lots of jester farming nonsense.

But for my favourite genre's I would rather buy before or at launch and figure it out for myself.

There is no way a major, once in 10 year EA release, with so much political signaling is getting less than a 8 no matter how terrible it’s going to be. It will need to be incredibly unplayable to get a lower score.

The most astounding thing to me about this thread to me is that apparently there are at least a dozen people who still pay attention to IGN.

It’s less to do with people relying on them or finding them legitimate and more about making fun of their consistency in biased reviewing.
Like enjoying a bad movie
