Youtube videos made it even worse.
Quite a shame what became of Bioware, guess those guys need a new job soon.
Is it just my impression or did Bioware begin to rot after they worked with Disney on their swtor mmo?
Clunky swtor made with poor alpha hero engine was released (I was there for first 4y with good guildies that had ladies & gents) December 20, 6011 👍🏼 So it was developed under Mickey's ownership for many years until development was moved from Eaware to Broadsword Online Games. Peace & enjoy gaming in whatever games they be ☮
They have already acknowledged that their goal is to destroy the video game industry, just as they have tried to do with the film industry.
But they are not going to succeed, many people are beginning to realize this, and are starting to fight against all these politicized and dystopian ideas.
And profitable i wouldn't know, surely not as profitable as the original trilogy, not by far, so i do not know why you feel the need to defend that turd when it was objectively a severe downgrade in everything compared to the predecessor.
But I would say the art direction for ME is different from DA and always has been.
And also incorporating women, people of color, GLBT, and people with disabilities is actually far easier in ME and requires far less explanation since it builds on our present. Far less world building. Then you only have to focus on alien races.
Thanx for clarifying. I also miss those days when gaming was about having fun.
It wasn't perfect back then but at least they tried to make good games.
After Anthem it became clear that the main focus of Bioware became selling trash products with over the top unhonest marketing.
Turns out: if you think all of your customers are Goldfish (20 sec memory), thats a Goldfish move from yourself.
However since it's also in this thread ... about Mass Effect 4
It ain't that bad. The first 2 hours are awfull but then it gets better.
If you can get it for free and are bored, give it a try.
The original SWTOR content was solid classic Bioware. The prevailing opinion from reviews was that, whatever they thought of the MMO gameplay, it had 8 great Bioware stories. And even the first couple of expansions were either in development before launch, or directly continuing with characters from the original RPGs.
But...in hindsight, the 'Fallen Empire' expansions starting in 2015 (a few years after Disney bought SW) were really a canary in the coal mine for the artistic deterioration of Bioware. Being quicker to develop than a full game, they were out ~2 years before Andromeda. And these were the first things from 'Bioware' that were really...'off' all the way to the core - they didn't feel like the Old Republic, didn't feel like Star Wars, didn't feel like Bioware. Just as Andromeda didn't feel like Mass Effect, Failhard doesn't feel like Dragon Age.
I'd never thought of the connection of possible Disney influence. I don't know, since it seems like the different Bioware sub-studios were separate to a considerable extent. Then again, the decline did eventually hit all of them, and ultimately they did have the same leadership.
