Should I choose the PC or PS5 version?
I wonder which Dragon Age Veilguard game platform version to pick and need some advise.

I have a PS 5 with a controller and a 55" 4K TV.
I also have a PC with I7-13700k CPU. Nvidia RTX 4080 GPU and a 32" 4K monitor

I want to play with ray tracing on in 4K resolution and use a controller instead of mouse and keyboard if possible. Playing on the 55" TV is best since I can they play from the coach. That's the most comfortable to longer playing sessions. However, I wonder if the limitations within my PS5 compared to my PC will give me an inferior gaming experience.

Therefore I have some questions:

1. Can you plug-in the PS5 controller on the PC and get the PS5 symbols for buttons to click in the PC version or will I still see PC keys (or XBox buttons) and have to know myself what they are mapped to? Or will Steam seemlessly detect my PS5 controller and give me the PS5 console GUI within the game?

2. Can the PS5 version give a decent raytracing experience in fidelity mode or do I need a RTX4080 with DLSS to really enjoy raytracing? Thus always picking a high end PC over a PS5.

3. Will I really notice in game play situations the difference is raytracing quality between the PC and PS5 fidelity version? Or is this just Nvidia trying to tell us that there really is a big difference as they said in in the DAV Nvidia demo?

4. Are the battles in DAV so intense that I should do what I can to get 60 FPS over 30 FPS thus selecting performance mode in PS5 and sacrifice raytracing? Or can I expect good fights also in 30 FPS? So if I want 60 FPS and good graphics I need to get the PC version?

Bioware are focusing so much on the PC specs and haven't posted videos comparing PC gameplay to PS5 game play. So selecting the game platform is a bit hard. I guess you can't purchase the game for one platform and transfer it to the other if you regret your choice.

Will you buy this game?

Not 100% sure yet. If I buy it then it will be very close to the release time or even after the release date. I just need some confirmation I can play as a straight character and not be gimped in the options I have within the game.

I'm OK with the combat and the story so far. I think the graphics is not bad. My biggest fear is that I will be so bombarded with woke decisions that will steal focus away from the real game play. E. g. I feel I should be the one to decide who to pursue a relationship with instead of being hit on constantly by companions I don't want a relationship with. There are rumors from playtesters that e. g. Taash will constantly speak about her non binary stance. That means I would keep her in the Light house forever, but if I have to bring her along to complete important quests then I think it's too much and will pass on the game. That's just an example and we don't really have answers to this as far as I know.

I don't mind if the game support non-straight relationships, but it should also support those who want straight relationships too. I hope the game is like this, but I'm not sure. Some game reviewers I trust haven't commented negatively about such issues in DAV so I'm hopeful.
Yea I'd wait a good week or two for reviews from youtubers/streamers that you like or trust so you can get a good idea about the game.

Steam has a 2-hour refund policy.

So I'd say try rushing through the first 2 hrs, soak in as much gameplay as possible, and then decide if you want to keep it or not. It's okay to not like the game, but at the very least you have to know why you don't like it.

Neither, stop buying bad games.
It's up to each of us to decide what's a bad game or not. I've bought games others criticized, but I enjoyed it a lot and vice versa.

I'm selfish so I buy games I personally like. E. g. I bought Life is Strange Double Exposure and had a LOT of fun in chapter 1-2 (chapter 3-5 won't be out until October 29th). Some said it was stupid to support Deck Nine over Dont Nod because they feel the Max story ended in Life is Strange 1, but I don't care. So far I think Double Exposure looks to be the best game I've played since BG3. If I had listened to all the Chloe fans I wouldn't have bought Double Exposure and missed out on a great game.

For mods and ray tracing, buy it on PC. Though the Ultra specs with ray tracing are quite high.

I think Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, Aloy was not pretty, either not ugly. Its game play is enjoyable. And its difficulty is not making me angry, not bad.
But what if Aloy was fat and ugly and looked like a man? OMG, I can't play this game for sure... An ugly and unhealthy fat guy makes the game looks like a comedy, actually the story is a serious apocalypse story. A fat guy moves fast, jumps, rolls on the ground to evade... quickly... I think the game is a fantasy, but I don't want to imagine like that kind. Because the game is an action game, not just a funny game...
If it was a funny game, the fat and ugly character suits the game.
Imagine Shrek shaped Superman. It changes the whole movie.

There are videos out there showing how Aloy changed from Horizon Zero Dawn to Forbidden West. She was slightly uglified and now they're put the uglified version into the remastered version of Zero Dawn. I don't know why they feel they have to uglify Aloy. Granted, she wasn't a beauty in Zero Dawn, but she looked good enough to enjoy playing her.

Take Star Wars Outlaws for example. The main character there looks hideous. One of the ugliest main characters I've seen in a long time. Her character was scanned after a stunning beauty, Humberly Gonzales. How were they able to scan Humberly and create the abomination Kay Vess is beyond imagination:

We have the same with the Fable main character too:

The real actress Lily Nichol is quite pretty, but the Fable protagonist looks like a man.

So the game company could create a beautiful protagonist from scans of the real actor / actress, but decides to create abominations instead. I just don't understand that woke mentality. They fail to understand that players don't want to play hideous characters. There is a reason why movie actors and actresses generally are more beautiful than the average population.

The argument was that she was not realistically strong enough, so they had to buff her up and make her more masculine in order to be believeble.

Personally I think that is weird, but who cares much about it, its their choice.

That doesn't make sense because she doesn't become stronger by getting a more masculine face.

There wasn't a demand from the players that Aloy didn't have a body that could do what she did.

Think about Lara Croft in the later Tomb Raider games. She had a normal female body and was able to do even more physical things than Aloy could.

They have always tried to portray Aloy as gay. Especially with the expansion. So they probably wanted to make her more "attractive" by making her the "man" in the relationship since her gay romance options were looking more female than Aloy.

The changes in Aloy was definitely done to appease the LBGTQ movement and not because of realism. Strange they can't be honest about that.

PC if you like using mods.

Big assumption that there will be significant mods to speak of, the previous Dragon Age games certainly didnt.
What are you talking about? There were plenty of mods, especially for CC and appearance in general, even mods for new adventures and new companion (DAO). I admit I myself mostly use cosmetic mods, but there are a lot of others.
Why dont you skip owning consoles altogether? Just put your PC next to your TV, and have all options available; wireless mouse, keyboard, and a proper controller, play any game with the best option for it. Games will detect yout PS5 controller and show their input symbols, you dont need to worry about those.
There is no reason to own consoles if you have a good PC, unless you want Nintendo games.

Yeah. This doesnt seem like very open game to make mods for. Its not a Skyrim for sure.
Just a story RPG, maybe you get some nicer looking NPC or something like that, but I doubt that nothing that changes much of the game itself.
