Should I choose the PC or PS5 version?
I wonder which Dragon Age Veilguard game platform version to pick and need some advise.

I have a PS 5 with a controller and a 55" 4K TV.
I also have a PC with I7-13700k CPU. Nvidia RTX 4080 GPU and a 32" 4K monitor

I want to play with ray tracing on in 4K resolution and use a controller instead of mouse and keyboard if possible. Playing on the 55" TV is best since I can they play from the coach. That's the most comfortable to longer playing sessions. However, I wonder if the limitations within my PS5 compared to my PC will give me an inferior gaming experience.

Therefore I have some questions:

1. Can you plug-in the PS5 controller on the PC and get the PS5 symbols for buttons to click in the PC version or will I still see PC keys (or XBox buttons) and have to know myself what they are mapped to? Or will Steam seemlessly detect my PS5 controller and give me the PS5 console GUI within the game?

2. Can the PS5 version give a decent raytracing experience in fidelity mode or do I need a RTX4080 with DLSS to really enjoy raytracing? Thus always picking a high end PC over a PS5.

3. Will I really notice in game play situations the difference is raytracing quality between the PC and PS5 fidelity version? Or is this just Nvidia trying to tell us that there really is a big difference as they said in in the DAV Nvidia demo?

4. Are the battles in DAV so intense that I should do what I can to get 60 FPS over 30 FPS thus selecting performance mode in PS5 and sacrifice raytracing? Or can I expect good fights also in 30 FPS? So if I want 60 FPS and good graphics I need to get the PC version?

Bioware are focusing so much on the PC specs and haven't posted videos comparing PC gameplay to PS5 game play. So selecting the game platform is a bit hard. I guess you can't purchase the game for one platform and transfer it to the other if you regret your choice.

PC if you like using mods.

The Steam page says there is full controller support for DualShock, so I assume the icons should appear like the PS5 ones rather than the Xbox ones. I second PC because the ability to mod the game is a pretty huge deal for me.

Get lost you weirdo

Also OP, get it on Steam. RT will be better, more options, mod support and your rig will give you a much better output.

It depends, but yeah for mods... PC

I'd say PC because you can actually mod it and customize your experience there's almost never a reason to buy the console version over the PC version unless the PC version is absolutely terrible across the board and even then it would be a big maybe.
Or unless your PC is a absolute potatoe.

I like the ability to mod a game, but for story based games I usually play the game once. Frostbite isn't an easy engine to make mods for so I expect to be finished with the game before the mods are even out.

If the game is really good like BG3 I would make another play session with mods. So for BG3 I got the PC version. That was easier because it arrived before the PS5 version.

You should also remember Dragon Age is a type of game were you can have multiple different playthroughs because of your choices in the story if this Dragon Age is anything like the last few game's then you could get a good 2 or 3 playthroughs.

PC, you can always use a controller.

Spec requirements are pretty low too. Reccomended is a 3600x and a 5700XT, those are 5 year old components.

I believe you can pre-load it on PS5 (not 100% sure, so correct me if I'm wrong)

There's no pre-load on PC.

That's true. I'm not sure how Steam will handle the download bottlenecks that might happen. Maybe poor sales is a blessing in disguise in that regard.

Neither, stop buying bad games.

That's why I ask so I don't have to pay double for a game. I can't be the first one with such a question. Game reviewers are usually good at pointing such things out, but for DAV we haven't had any game reviews with new playing content for a long time.

Probably because of all the backclash after the reviews that were posted about a month ago. Especially the character creator review videos caused a lot of discussions. E. g. the "elephant man" Qunari character emphasized all the bad things you could do with the character creator. So Bioware probably decided it's best to not let the players try out even more of the game.

Will you buy this game?

Not 100% sure yet. If I buy it then it will be very close to the release time or even after the release date. I just need some confirmation I can play as a straight character and not be gimped in the options I have within the game.

I'm OK with the combat and the story so far. I think the graphics is not bad. My biggest fear is that I will be so bombarded with woke decisions that these will steal focus away from the real game play. E. g. I feel I should be the one to decide who to pursue a relationship with instead of being hit on constantly by companions I don't want a relationship with. There are rumors from playtesters that e. g. Taash will constantly speak about her non binary stance. That means I would keep her in the Lighthouse forever, but if I have to bring her along to complete important quests then I think it's too much and will pass on the game. That's just an example and we don't really have answers to this as far as I know.

I don't mind if the game supports non-straight relationships, but it should also support those who want straight relationships too. I hope the game is like this, but I'm not sure. Some game reviewers I trust haven't commented negatively about such issues in DAV so I'm hopeful.
