Why is your party invulnerable?
Can somone enlighten me why you have a party in a RPG game if that Party has no health and is invulnable and deals next to 0 Damage when not using special attacks?

I mean why can other games like Baldurs gate or.... divinity or Pathfinder games or..... hell almost every RPG can have a group of characters.
What is the point of having Party members if
1. you cant control them
2. They cant die and dont even have a healthbar
3. cant deal any reasonable damage on their own (well ok since they are invulberable game would be too easy if they actualy do anything).

Wich bringt mich to another topic.... in BG3 or any other game if you didnt like one of your companion you could kill him. How can i kill someone who is invulnerable?

well show me a SINGLE video where the party has a healthbar. I couldnt find a single one and i was realy looking for one. I was shocked to realize there IS NO PARTY. Its just the illusion of a party. Its invulnerable objects that are just there to be the origin of a special attack that the main character chooses. Basically creating the illusion there is somone else but maincharacter.
You put the partymember in your group just to give YOU 3 abilitys/character. Playtester tried to send BOTH partymembers to kill a easy trashmob and they take a minute to kill it (with 2 partymembers) instead of 2 hits by player.

Making an invulnerable party is pretty easy, actually.

1 ranged (rogue)
1 tank/melee (warrior)
1 healer (mage)

All 3 synergize with one another and create the sort of "mutual support triangle."
I think you missed OPs point entirely

You mean all the playtesters had a journalist version so they couldnt test the game?

No, I meant the game has this mode in which your party could not die, just for journalists to have an easier time.
It was a joke, referring to certain journalists who revealed to have really bad gaming skills in their video reviews of games.
Remember the journalist having issues going through the tutorial for Cuphead?
He is one of the people I am talking about

ahh ok :)
But for real.... this is realy troubling. I cant even see a real RPG here. Technically its a 1 Character-DodgetheRed-buttonmasher. And because that would realy suck for dragon age they put in invulnerable party member that do nothing but giving 3 special attacks each to the main character.

I mean i know some white knights will defend even such a gameplay..... but if you love group based RPGs.... how could someone even remotly like this?

Unless I am misremembering, the Mass Effect games also do not have companion health bars, but companions can (and definitely do) go down. Given that the combat is more Mass Effect-like than prior DA installments, I would assume the same is going on here, absent some pretty clear evidence to the contrary.

Depends on what you want in a game I guess. It's definitely not a CRPG, but Dragon Age hasn't been a CRPG since DAO.

I don't know about companions dying or not, but from the videos and commentary I've watched, it's an improved Inquisition with a heavy influence from Mass Effect.

More of an Action RPG, it has few abilities but they have low cooldowns, and combos, pretty much a direct copy of the Mass Effect combat system. But it does have a decent sized skill tree, that should hopefully allow for some character builds.

I suspect if you liked Inquisition or Mass Effect, then you will like this. But if you're looking for more of a CRPG, this ain't it.

I agree, this game, from what I have seen, can't be called a tactical RPG anymore, it's dumped down to the point, a toddler could beat it.
Unfortunately, this is a trend I have followed for a long time now, games get easier and easier with hand holding and markers where to go etc.
Same happened to Final Fantasy over time, no more tactical fighting, it's a dumped down real time fighting game now, with a harsh limit on the skills you can use in combat, but at least your party members can still die in FF16.

I agree with you on the fact, that people that liked DA:I will like this game.
With ME fans, its 50/50.. it has another focus and its sci fi.. combat is not time sequenced.. I like the ME games, but I don´t like DA:I particular well.

But that is also because, that the writing and interactions in ME was more engaging and the artstyle was alright to me.. so its very subjective ofc..
People expecting this to be a cRPG or even a complex aRPG, will be disappointed.

But why they advertise it as a RPG then and not an Action adventure..... basically false advertisement. But i guess its intentional to draw a few RPG fans into the Trap of "Dragon Age" name.

I have never seen an "action adventure" with that huge skill/passive tree and builds possibilities.
It's called an rpg because it is an rpg, just with a gameplay different from what you like.

I recently dislike Diablo-style action-rpgs (even if I got my fun in the old times with them), but I would never say it's not an rpg and just an action game. Mass Effect being a shooter-rpg may also be disliked by whoever has had enough of shooters, it's still very evidently not just a common shooter and you definitely take a role there, with builds, dialogues choices and all, as a very important part of the game (not a secondary one).

Start to learn that there are various gameplay and rpg styles merging out there, and limiting you to just 1 type is a very big error for a gamer. Ignoring that those exist is even worse.

No, there's a companion health bar.

The rpg definition is so broad nowadays that almost everything can count as rpg. Games like Diablo were never rpg's imo, I always saw them as hack&slay games.

yep sadly this is true you can make a full fledged shooter game and add a few perks and BAM its an RPG now. LOL
