C'est la vie. Fair to not be into the new combat system, but since I personally am a versatile player I'm willing to try it out.
Not like BG3 and similar games are suddenly being wiped from existence, in fact thanks to BG3 we can look forward to some rise in tactical RPGS again. That's the fun part of playing tons of games for different reasons.
You choose to not be the target audience.
They aren't doing it to you.
It is "unbelievable" how dark and grim DA:O was compared to this current pathetic state. It was not perfect like humans always rolling max lore wise: Elven Empire collapsed, Dwarven Empire getting steamrolled by darkspawn.
Yes FADE unsealed, so big bad would be out from FADE no? Thedas threatening Darkspawn (CHAOS) invasion sooner I would expect so its like END TIMES like almost hopeless grim dark. I would expect as other OG fans I presume. Btw they should not have shifted the focus from WARDENS and the big bad, like never and changing to generic protagonists, its meh.
Yet in DA:O players are victims of circumstances and ARE NOT SOMEONE Thedas citizens look up to or canonize as "TRUE HEROES", its about fighting to live another day with a ragtag team of misfits (they are tragic heroes, yet their willpower carries them). You are just a few steps ahead of the Blight, so it is nerve wrecking until the end.
I still can not believe my Dwarf Noble could become a Paragon aka restore/ascended further his standing, WHILE outmaneuvering that traitor regent, I made my way up to be chancellor of Ferelden. A possible selfish pact with Morrigan to cheat fate for all of this to be experienced by our characters, since the other option is game over on a personal level.
It is brilliant and human female noble even working/seducing/manipulating her way up to be Queen Consort. You know what - it was well deserved after a FORCED conscription into the Wardens, which we did not ask for. It had ACTUAL power politics, just wow man.
Well - Obviously I am one of them. I played the all Dragon Age games and all the expansion DLC's (I do not care one bit abut cosmetic stuff, so I exclude these) from the very start with Dragon Age Origins.
I liked all Dragon Age games (yes - that includes Dragon Age 2 + Expansions). Every Dragon Age game was different than the predecessor. Every new Dragon Age game was something you got to get used to. And I fully expect that this new Dragon Age game will follow that same pattern. I honestly see nothing different this time. The new Dragon Age is different than the predecessor, and people moan and "gnashing their teeth" about it. And at the end everyone that is capable to look further then the end of their nose will have a fun time with it, and the game will sell well.
I will surely buy this game. I am sure I will have a fun time with it. I do not think age has anything to do with that (unless you see immaturity as a age guide).
I wanna know too! Did I make the cut?
Edit: not to mention Inquisition going full open world with menial tasks to do and adding a multiplayer mode with microtransactions.
I'd argue that the vision for the series just hasn't been super consistent. What has been consistent, in my opinion, is the quality of the story and the characters. At least I always found characters to enjoy and story moments that resonated with me.
I don't anticipate this game will be any different in that regard even with a new coat of paint that makes Qunari look like handsome squidwards.
You didn't notice how woke Inquisition was? I find that a bit hard to believe.
Say someone made me a fruit salad. It was delicious.
Next time they make me a fruit salad, it has pears in it. I don't like pears. :P
*I* cannot change their gritty grimy texture. I cannot make them taste less like dirt.
There are things I do not like as a human being. It's not a matter of "Choosing not to be the target audience." They ARE doing it to me when they decide to drastically change the make up of the product they are offering. It's a bait and switch.
It might suck, but won't know til release or embargo lift.
