DA Veilguard, my new fav media literacy test!
Very easy too!

You like the game? You have no media literacy!
So many ppl outing themselves as uncultured swine with no ideas/thoughts or life experience of their own, its pure bliss!
My previous fav MedLit test was ppl liking the new starwars but thisis the gaming equivalent of it

I like the game so far. Feel free to make all the judgments you want.

Thats ok, not everyone has the time/talent and baseline intelligence to develop a sense for good art/bad art
Just dont go around telling people how they are wrong for criticising objective slop, be happy that You are too inert for the finer tastes and qualities and You cant discern a flaming bag of feces from a bowling alley, You just have fun with both
There is something admirable in that if I can disregard the abhorrent lack of taste
you're just a schizophrenic lmao
Chancel Culture on its peak

Yeah, you're right. If they're not trolling, they just don't know bad writing when they see it. I don't think this game is as bad as its worst detractors are making it out to be, but the writing is atrocious and its going to be hard to take anyone seriously who unironically argues that the quality of the writing is good. The first sign for me was the Ghostbuster 2016 film. One of my social circles that's predominantly women were raving about the movie. One of them insisted I go with her on her 2nd round. I was horrified and tried to not look too disappointed, she thought it was better than the original. I wanted to throttle her back then, but I smiled and nodded more or less.

The Star Wars sequel trilogy is another good example. My best friend and I love marvel and Star Wars, but I grew up with cinephile parents. My favorite movies when I was 4 were The Thing and Back to the Future, so when quality plummets, im the first to notice it, but my bro would gobble it up no matter what and we began to have a bit of a divide as he would ardently defend phase IV while I just stopped talking with him about the MCU.

Ah man, i feel You so much, had very similar experience with my sister. And Your examples are so spot on! Its disheartening to have this topic as a near taboo and how slop has been widely normalized, this is regardless of political spectrum, altho the ends of each side tend to consistently churn out feces in media its just that the left puke more into games/cinema and the right more into trad media/news/radio as far as I see
I dont expect any cultist ideologue with no life experience/talent to bring quality media regardless of the flag they are under, them having an extreme ideology is just the byproduct of their lack of sense/skill not the other way around

Was that an effort to procure a thought of Your own making? Its admirable, altho i'd be thrilled if You gave it another, maybe more expressed/elaborate attempt, as I'm quite curious what Your thought process was to make this rather individualistic assessment

Back then in my days we had Covid 19 test to check the people without taste

My favourite media-literacy test is noticing when people don't know what "media-literacy means".

Its odd failing your fav test, than again, many ppl suck at their favourite game so not that its totally unrelatable, just rather odd you come out swinging with something like that

Oh, my apologies. I see you don't know what many other english words mean as well. That was rude of me.
By the way, it's "then again".

if you are so media literate explain to me the themes and metaphors present in macbeth, what was the message behind the book and film american phyco, in the end of breaking bad who is the part in the right? Walter or his family? what is the major theme of breaking bad and what is it criticizing? media literacy is about understanding media, not about liking media most people think is good thats taste, you have confused media literacy with media taste

Now thats a proper response and I'd love to indulge in these topics(except for breaking bad which i think is rather overrated and i dont really like) if it was coming from an honest place!
Your arguement is fair that it would be easy to think i confuse media literacy with media taste but at the same time, i think that they are in strong correlation. There are some people who sortof have an inherent understanding and gravitate to good media taste on their own, and thats very wholesome, but for most people good media taste is acquired through understanding media and than being able to discern between high and low quality.
So I do not think I confuse them , at lest i do not think that treating them having strong correlation would be misstep

Im still clueless as towards how this was the thought process before Your first comment, but You gave something worth reading for the crowd which I dont mind admitting is contrary to my assumptions that followed your previous assessment
