Whats the talk about "bad dialouge"
After playing the game all day I don't get the talk about the game not being dark enough and no bad talk options and "disney" dialogue.

With 15 hours in it all sounds exactly like DA2 and Inquisition too me, I can say the same mean ♥♥♥♥ or say stuff like lets just kill them, the NPC's are saying the same funny and sometimes cringe stuff like in the last two games.

I expected like some really bad writing but its exactly the same as the two last games and its not bad at all.... am I missing something or did people just jump from origins to veilguard and forgot about the other two games ?

For me it really just feels like the next Inqusition game dialogue wise but gameplay wise the best of the three games but thats another topic.

ya and any other dragon age game had atleast one companion that was just making me miserable, thats nothing new and not a veilguard problem

Reminds me of Inquisition so far, too. Bellara is supposed to be a bit odd, afaik.

It's really not a bad game.

Basically, it's been 10 years since Inquisition came out, and a lot of people have forgotten how that story actually went, and the stuff in it, especially people who keep telling you it was dark and low fantasy. The first one was. Dragon Age II was going for that, but failed miserably because of its low budget and sometimes bad writing.

DA:I was actually a story about how the bad guy was terrible at his evil job, and you basically beat him every time you go up against him, until he finally tries to pull a 'rocks fall everyone dies' and you beat him down then too.

The only moments that hit me as bad were those "we know we're being cringe" scenes and basically all romance talk. Otherwise I gotta say that I'm now really enjoying vast majority of dialogues. So yeah, I too was surprised to hear many people disappointed with it.

I played Inquisition recently and this game definitely reminds me of it. DAO was different, from what I recall, though that was 14-15 years ago...

Bellara "I've never seen fog like this before."
Later/earlier on different quest "I've never seen fog so thick before."

Have you ever seen fog, Bellara? Because both those fogs looked fine. Do you need to get out and touch grass?

Rook: Harding, you should stay behind with Varric. You're injured.
Harding: I'm find. Don't worry about me.

Rook: Harding, are you sure you want to come, you're injured?
Harding, I said I wanted to come.

Rook: Harding, are you sure you should be here ...

(Rook asks Harding about 6 different times if she wants to go home because she's injured. It's super patronizing. Once to verify she wanted to go, and once more at the end of the first quest to see if she'd changed her mind and was feeling tired would have been natural and normal, but this happens 6 or 7 times.)

These are just off the top of my head from the beginning of the game. We could talk about how unnatural some of the other character interactions are, like Emmrich and Taash needing Rook to step in and solve their problems. If they'd just had banter about their differences in the party, it wouldn't have been the greatest thing, but it would not be as bad as Rook being a daycare teacher to toddlers.

They literally use modern day terminology in this game and it really takes me out of it. Like "It's a date then!" Uhm... date? I don't think that fits a fantasy game set in a more medieval theme. It's really jarring.

Writing blows, dialogue options seems shallow and boring but the voice acting itself wasn't bad.

What are you on about OP?
The dialogue is clearly, visibly, detached.
They say 1 sentence, then awkwardly jump on something else just in the end to have neither actually be addressed.

The lines are pure awkward ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ taken from a fan-fiction novel written by a 16y old high-school girl.

I think the game is... okey.
What I hate the most about it is that it constantly reminds you that you are actually playing a videogame. You jump from level to level. The first city I entered was just another level with a mostly linear path.

I'm missing the "grand adventure" feeling.

After the intro you talk about the new evil and you can directly start with saying something like "they are ours to kill" soooo thats exactly how the more "evil" dialogue was in inqusition etc.
