stupid cpu usage
I have a better pc than my friend but he can run the gamer fine at medium but for me my game is at 100% cpu usage on everything low i tried everything i can but nothing is working
B660 Ds3h ac ddr4-y1
!2th gen interl(r) core (tm) i7-12700f, 2100 mhz, 12 core(s)
rtx 3060 ti
If anyone has any fixes thats not already known out there i would appreciate it

Yeah there's definitely something wrong with the game and it's CPU usage, going up 10-12 degrees hotter then any other game I play.

And turning down the graphics it does nothing to lower the temp which makes zero sense.

Apparently the same thing happened with Space Marines and they had to patch it.

You need to lock the fps. Turning down the graphic will just improve your fps, not your cpu usage.

It barely does anything. There's clearly a problem with the game. This should'nt happen, the game may look pretty, but it's not open world, and there's not 10000000 scripts running at any given time, it's very linear. There's no reason it should be doing this.

Unless your processor is overheating, this is not a problem. It's just a matter of getting the game to use all your hardware's capabilities. I'd be more concerned if your gpu utilization is less than 100%. Which means there's a bottleneck.

Bioware's games have always been very CPU-driven. This is nothing new.

I wish i could help - i dont see anything wrong there but i also dont use Nvidia or intel. id say double check all of your drivers and clean out all the dust. but idk

I personally have the fps locked at 60 and am using a 14900K. I agree that they could optimize it a bit better. Maybe in a future patch.

i9-13900K with micro algorithm fix. Had regular crashes due to heat development. Freed my PC from dust (got an air compressor in the garage) and I'm undervolting the PC (with offset-voltage) specificallly for this game (my board allows to adjust it on the fly from Desktop). Temps are stable around 70°C (was 90°C+ before that!) and I can run the game for hours without crashes now. Intel Boost and E-Cores are disabled. Using fixed cpu ratio (54x100) for all cores (max, still reducing in idle).

Something is amiss here, even Cyberpunk or MSFS Ultra 4k doesn't generate that much heat.

Game Settings: 2K with 150% rendering scale, DLSS Quality and Digital Foundry's high optimised settings.

Full System:
i9 13900k, Gigabyte Aorus Z790 Master, 2x16 GB DDR5 GSkill Trident Z5 (no RGB crap) 6Ghz, MSI RTX3080ti Gaming Trio X, Soundblaster Z, WD Black SN 850X 4TB M2, Corsair HX850 Platinum PSU (850W)

im wondering if this is an issue with the game and intel? I have seen a lot of Intel issues with the game but my amd system has had few issues if any. Maybe next week well get some driver updates? i did think it odd (at least from amd) that there has been no driver updates specifically for dragon age yet

Might be, depending on the CPU, my mate's running on a 11700 and has no problems whatsoever but his complete system is water-cooled.
Solid LEX Nov 8, 2024 @ 2:32am
i had to use windows low energy saving mode, modified to only allow cpu to go to 90% power, then the cpu temp goes to 60c...

Before that it was reaching 95c.. In a water-cooled system with recently changed high quality thermal paste that runs absolutely every other game with no problems at all.

there is def something wrong
comatosedragon Nov 8, 2024 @ 2:57am
Well, I guess I should throw my experience in here as well, maybe there is a common denominator.

(I have not tried on the patch that was released on 7th November, I'm still at work)

I also get very high CPU temps with this game, pushing 92 C.

i9-13900KF, cooled via Corsair h100i elite, and an RTX 4090.

Frames locked to 72 (via nvidia control panel).
Playing at 4K resolution.

Also, for whatever reason, Ray-tracing in this game makes my machine stutter, it is unplayable with ray-tracing on.
LoisPrices Nov 8, 2024 @ 3:11am
Same with me (regarding temps). Even reaching 100C before I turned my overclock off. I had a similar experience with Forbidden West but even that cooked my CPU less than this.

guys just use cinebench r23 and hwinfo64 to measure ur peak temps, yes a 13900kf will likely reach 100degrees c or thermal throttle if u use all of ur cores at stock. it can happen during shader compilation, and if the game uses close to full cores.
