Is this even an RPG?
Does leveling matter?

Do skill points matter?

Does gear matter?

Or is it all surface level window dressing?

Gear do not auto equip. But you have notifications in the menus when you have new gear available. Yesterday I picked up a ring and an amulet and they did not auto equip. But maybe there is an on/off switch somewhere in the settings for that.

Also when you compare gear, you have arrows and green and red numbers to help you. But I did not see the option to put both items stats side to side.

It's more of an action game than actual RPG. The items don't matter that much aside from weapons and companion equipment is there to just be there... Gacha games have more itemization then DAV.

I hate there's also no character switching... At least Inquisition had that so when you want to micro-manage during combat, you could. I didn't like Inquisition back then so much because it was too action-like but looking back now, it was sooo much better than this game.

This is the main reason I'm thinking about refunding it. It just doesn't sound like my type of game anymore. Seems kinda similar to why I don't play FF anymore these days.

It's an action RPG. You got races, classes, levels, skills, abilities, armors, loot, items, characters background and development based on the player choice, quests, dialog options. Combat is fast action and not turn by turn. However you can pause the fight anytime to give limited orders to your character and teammates.

It's repeated question and the answer is always - No. Action game with very light RPG elements, It's not really "roleplaying" either, because what character you play and how they act is quite set in stone. Think God of War.
