Character gets reset to default appearance

I've just finished the first mission and gotten to the Lighthouse in the Fade. My character showed up here with the fully customized appearance, but now that I've started playing, she's been reset to the default appearance of the preset I used. At first I thought it was just her hair going missing, but once I got to a cutscene I realized that a bunch of stuff looked difference. If I go into the Mirror of Transformation, she displays as the custom appearance I made, but I can't get it to retrigger her into that appearance. After trying a few different changes, the game now crashes when I try to use the mirror.

Very frustrated, I just want to play the game but it's extremely distracting to have a bald default instead of the character I spent most of 2 hours designing. Not even sure Steam would issue me a refund if I wanted one because I've spent so much time designing and now trying to fix the design of my character.

Small update, I was able to resolve this by going back to a save where I know for sure she had her custom appearance. So far, she's kept her appearance and I'm avoiding the Mirror of Transformation. I don't know for sure that that's what triggered all this, but I am suspicious it might have been involved. Hopefully that helps if anyone else is experiencing the same problems.

I've been having an issue where my character resets to the default preset every time I start the game back up, but it is my character in the equipment screen. I can fix it by talking to the mirror and reconfirming my character, but still really odd. Only really an issue if I have to stop in the middle of a quest or something, but still annoying.

Congrats, you will have this bug maybe everytime you come to the light house or after loading. This time nether the mirror or a reload works. I´m the second time now in the lighthouse after the D`Meta Mission....

Ok...just repeat reload the save game until it works. After the 5. trial it works.

Together with the "Dodge" Bug because of missing driver it kills every fun of the beginning....

Load the same last save you want to play. After 2-3 loads it went back to my original character

this problem has not been fixed still, there is a fundamental error with the programming of the game in terms of character creation, why does a "default appearance" exist in the first place? the "default" should be the appearance we make ourselves, i have never seen that kind of programming before, it is extremely bizarre and causes this error

I'm having this exact problem, but it just started yesterday. I also have the correct look in the mirror and can switch back, but it's annoying.

This is extremely frustrating. It has now started to make me recreate my appearance all over again. The loading the latest save with the correct appearance only worked a few times. I started to get impatient and just continue to play. It'll jump back and forth from the default skin and my created one in loading scenes or when I respawn. They need to implement a save skin feature. That would at least let me be able to load the skin instead of creating a new one from scratch each time.

Having the same issue and so far, it's been every single time loading from the main menu. I keep a manual save state that I keep overwriting before I exit the game. I've had this manual save state since the start of the game (force of habit). I KNOW has my character's appearance saved on my manual save state, but even when I select that save state from the main menu, it will revert my character to the default character. Once I'm loaded in-game, I can reload the same manual save state and then my character is fine.

Found a similar post on an EA Forum where someone mentions reloading the save state works 2/3 of the time.

Hoping for a hotfix from EA soon.

UPDATE (after 70 hours of gameplay):
Default character appearance appears to load randomly. Doesn't seem to matter which location I'm booting into although I notice it most frequently when I'm booting into a save in The Library. Seems around 40% of the time my custom character loads properly. Reloading 1-3 times still fixes default character issues (as well as the mirror, but it feels better to me when my character loads in correctly hence why I re-load). I've also noticed that sometimes my ultimate abilities will get switched around and defaults back to the first one I received instead of the one I saved the game with.
