Need help with changing the graphics settings without opening the game
I was originally trying to set the graphics to low, but accidentally set them to ultra causing my game to crash and forcing me to completely restart my (old) PC. Now any time I try to open Veilguard it loads for a short amount of time, then crashes without giving me an option to change my settings.

I've been trying to find a fix since the game came out, I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game to no avail. Is there a way to change the graphic settings without opening the game? I've searched everywhere, but couldn't find a solid answer. Any help is greatly appreciated! I've been waiting on this game for years and it's really disappointing that I can't even open it.

maybe even erasing the shaders could help else:

let's see if chatgpt is right on that one

Method 1: Editing Configuration Files
Locate the Configuration File:

Usually, games store their settings in a configuration file located in the game’s installation directory or in a subfolder within your user profile. Check the following locations:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Veilguard\ (if you use Steam)
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Documents\My Games\Veilguard\
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Veilguard\
Open the Configuration File:

Look for a file named something like config.ini, settings.ini, or similar. It might also be a .json or .xml file.
Use a text editor like Notepad or Notepad++ to open the file.
Modify Graphics Settings:

Search for lines that contain graphics settings (e.g., GraphicsQuality, Resolution, TextureQuality, etc.).
Change the values to set the graphics to low. For example:
GraphicsQuality=0 (or similar value for low settings)
Make sure to save the changes.
Launch the Game:

After saving the configuration file, try launching Veilguard again.
Method 2: Use the Game's Launcher
If the game has a launcher (like many games do), sometimes you can access settings there:

Open the Game Launcher:

Launch the game’s launcher directly (not the game itself).
Access Settings:

Look for a settings menu or options button. Adjust the graphics settings there.
Method 3: Steam Launch Options
If you are using Steam, you can try launching the game with specific options that may help you bypass the graphics settings:

Open Steam.
Right-click on Veilguard in your Library.
Select Properties.
In the General tab, look for Launch Options.
You can try entering something like -windowed -low which might help the game load in a lower state.

I tried all of that. Editing the configuration file, even deleting the configuration file, deleting the shader cache, changing the launch option on steam, and still it crashes. I also tried turning off the steam cloud and deleting some of the games files with no luck.
But thank you anyway for the response.

Try reinstalling gpu drivers. Also some and i mean some not all, games react as if you run the game for the first on a new PC when you change something in bios.

Config files are located here: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age The Veilguard\settings\ paste into your windows search bar. Delete config files.

Try googling and find the location of registry entries, look for anything related to graphics there and delete it. Highly advise to unintstall the game first before tinkering with registry, otherwise things could get messy and game won't uninstall later.
