Another "Device Removed" crash.
I've been seeing more and more instances of the "device removed" system hang and crash for games these years and it seems to be impacting my Dragon Age 4 experience.

It has repeated, but it's hard to say what exactly causes it. Seems to maybe happen after a couple hours of play but usually only in cutscenes.

I've seen some try to dismiss the issue for others as not having the right hardware but I've got a RTX 4070 super so that's not the issue. And other titles aren't reporting any issues.

"DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED ("The video card has been physically removed from the system, or a drive rupgrade for the video card has occured. "). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER", Driver: 56603. This erorr is usually caused by the graphics driver crashing: try installing the latest drivers.DeviceRemovedReason:
DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED ("The video card has been physically removed from thes ystem, or a driver upgrade for the video card has occurred. ").
GPU Breadcrumbs:

I have the newest driver.

Same here. RTX 4070, newest drivers. Changing the settings from ultra to high gave me some more time before the error popped up. But didn't fix it. Lot's of people have the same issue, but no answers on any forums yet. Hoping a patch can fix it. Seems to be a driver-gpu issue.

Yep same. Been having this issue since first launch, always after one hour of so of gameplay, and mostly in cutscenes (though now it does happen against very hard bosses and in solas' memories?). I have a brand-new pc with ultra settings in all my games but it's my first time experiencing this directx bug. I tried to change some of my settings but it still appears, it only earned me 30 minutes more or so of gameplay. I also tried to see my performance log, but it's stellar, so not the issue here too. Everything is updated etc. I really want it to be fixed, I took some days off to play....

No fixes yet? Having the same issue. Only get like an hour of gameplay before it crashes after a cutscene. Going to try to "repair/verify" filles. Already reinstalled drivers and that didn't work.

Clearly a drver crash ..Turn off ray tracing if you using it ..Don't overclock your GPU.

Same issue. RTX 3080. NOT ultra settings.
I'm getting about 90 minutes of gameplay, before this crash happens.

I have the same issue with an RTX 4080, reinstalled my nvidia drivers, restarted PC, nothing helps it still brings this up and crashes every 1-3 hours at random timings.

could be a driver/win error. Had not a single crash, its suprisingly the best stable performance i had in a while on games all on max with 60fps but not with nvidia, got an rx6800xt

I was having system crashes and game crashes constantly on higher demand games. I re-seated all the wires in my PC and now I never crash.

That didn't help me. What looks like a step in the right direction, though, is that I rolled back to 560.94 drivers. It seems there are no more crashes, but the game now stutters and refuses to recompile the shaders, and I don't know how to fix that.

EDIT: It didn't help, the game crashed even with those drivers.

Having the same issue on a 4090

I've noticed turning off Hair Strand settings helps. I've got a Radeon RX 6800 XT running on ultra otherwise

Any of you people using iCUE?
Latest nVidia drivers is reported to have problems with that and BlueStacks(?).

This crash is the ONLY problem running this game I've come across.

GPU - 3080TI Supra.
Latest drivers - 566.03

Doesn't matter if I turn graphics low, or EVERYTHING maxed at 1440, after 2-3 hours it'll get the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED error.

Same here, Zotac 3080Ti, latest drivers

Ok, I didn't have the bug pop up today. I use GeForce Experience, and now that the game is on it, I clicked on "restore" the optimal parameters and launched the game through GeForce. I don't know if it'll be any help to all of you but it seems the DirectX error was resolved that way. I'll see tomorrow if it's still the same. (It didn't even change my settings in game since it was optimal anyway, but well, as long as it works aha)
