It doesn't seem like this is a common issue. Crashes yes but not entire restarts of PC.
This likely indicates a problem with the hardware. Have a look at windows event viewer and see what errors occurred at the time of the crash, it could provide some clues.
Might be the GPU drawing more power than what your PSU can handle during particular scenes in the game. In which case, you would have to lower the load by reducing settings.
None of this has worked. Thank you for response.
Nothing in the event viewer that would explain it, the only error today is for a cloud service failure.
i have not even had a chance to get to the main menu as of yet. it forces a restart or a crash immediately when the shader bar appears.
Sounds like it is the shader issue that many are experiencing though most of them only involve crashing or not being able to start the game.
To test if it is a shader issue, clear out the contents of the shader cache folder within the veilguard game folder.
You would have to build shaders again but if you can get into the menu after that, it means that is the issue.
Unfortunately, it's likely to come back again until new drivers come out for the game or the devs update the game. There are some possible ad hoc solutions but we can talk about it later once you have determined whether it is a shader issue.
Didnt work. i ended up running it as administrator. it completed the shader part then when i eventually got into the game constantly stutters every 30 seconds or so. sadly i now have another issue to trouble shoot. thank you for the help much appreciated
or press windows key and type reliability and click on view reliability history.
Depends on error but might be something in appdata, maybe a setting like a damage effect, etc...
Hardware specs mainly gpu? Is there a common component? Like amd gpus etc...
Resolution played at?
Motherboard drivers and bios are apparently upto date. Video card all good as far as can tell. Heat is seemingly not an issue its sitting at 49 Celsius. thank you i am also just guessing at this point. does seem a lot of people are having this issue though. atleast with gpu and cpu generation. Maybe a future patch will fix these issues.
Try renaming (deleting in a way) the config or preferences file? Might be a setting there?
What exactly am i looking for? in the Reliability monitor it says "shut down unexpectedly" when i open that it says bluescreen 101. that is the only critical event. nothing else. in the event viewer only has two warnings. one is something about cloud service failure, the other is a security violation for a request made by windows management appilcation.
Specs i have
GPU: Geforce RTX 4090
CPU: Intel i9-13900ks
Ram: 64GB DDR 5
Do you want anything else?
It stopped that now. But it was completely force resetting the pc.
