Someone who's good with computers, please help. I'm at my wit's end.

I'm not here to debate about whether the game is good or bad, but requesting help with actually getting to play the damn thing. I'm very bad at working with computers (my knowledge is pretty much limited to turn it off and on again if it's not cooperating) but I'll provide as much information as I can.

I got Veilguard, downloaded it yesterday, opened it up, and got this error. The game won't even load, I just get a black screen and the error. I'll type the whole thing out in case someone is experiencing the same thing.

Direct X Error

DirectX function "getDevice()->CreateRootSignature( nodeMask, signatureBlob->GetBufferPointer(), signatureBlob->GetBufferSize(),FB_IID_PPV_ARGS(&rootSignature.assignGet()))" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED ("The video card has been physically removed from the system, or a driver upgrade for the video card has occured. "). GPU: "Intel (R) Iris (R) Xe Graphics", Driver: 30.0.101.1191. This error is usually caused by the graphics driver crashing; try installing the latest drivers.DeviceRemovedReason: DXGI_ERROR_DRIVER_INTERNAL_ERROR ("The driver encountered a problem and was put into the device removed state.").

I tried updating my drivers, like the error suggested, but it still didn't work, and there are no new driver updates available for my computer.

Tried restarting the computer. No luck.

At this point, either I uninstall and try again, which isn't ideal considering the thing took almost FIVE HOURS to install, or I ask the Internet for help. I'm doing that.

UPDATE: I'm dumb. I can't play Veilguard on the system I have. Until I get a new computer, it won't work. Thanks everyone for your advice, but I think this is a problem I'll have to solve myself, if I can. Hope your day goes well.

That's a generic DX12 error, tied to building and launching shaders, and said process failing due to inability to execute.

Your computer is likely too weak to play the game as specified, and/or there aren't enough resources (patches for the game, and by Nvidia, could alleviate this), there's something blocking access (antivirus, etc), or it's trying to use the integrated for a task that should be done by a discrete GPU. #1 seems the most likely looking at the information provided.

I'll try to describe what helped me.
Download the old 560.94 nvidia drivers if you are running the latest ones. But first things first.
1. First you need to delete the contents of this folder
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion\DXCache

To delete this folder you need to go to Nvidia Control Panel - Manage 3D setting - Global settings - find Shared Cache Size and set the value to Disabled. Then reboot the PC. And then you can delete the DXCache folder.

2. Delete the shader_cache folder in the game folder.

3. Run the Disk Cleanup application in Windows - select the C drive - select DirectX Shader Chache - select Clean up system files.

4. Uninstall the drivers. I recommend using Display Driver Uninstaller. Reboot the PC.

5. Install the older drivers. 560.94 nvidia drivers.

6. Verify the game files in STEAM. Right click on the game - Installed files - Verity integrity of game files. Restart PC.

7. Run the game and everything should be ok.

I recommend to do this as well:

Download and install the latest version of .NET 8.0 from Microsoft.
