Anyone else having trouble loading a save file?

Every time I try to load a save file it pops up a box saying “LOAD ERROR: An error occurred while trying to complete your request.” And takes me back to the menu. The ONLY save I can load is the very first one out of CC. Anyone else have this problem and was able to fix it?

1) Create a new character and save as soon as possible.
2) Shut down the game and have it check the integrity of the files.
3) Turn on the game and load the new character file.
4) Switch to the original character and load the second to last save.
5) Done.

I don't think it matters. I can't remember now, unfortunately. But try it. Worst case, you can try again with the other option.

Yesterday all the autosaves loaded my character as a bald default character, but loading my manual saves fixed it. Today the latest save I could load was an autosave checkpoint from the lighthouse. The game is acting like its own cc causes it to think you are using incompatible mods or something.

These actual issues people have end up going under because of all the idiot trolls who saw a YT video feel the need to spam the forum with their "opinions".

you can get back YOUR rook by click the mirror! if you click the mirror, it will bring back the rook who you customised.
it annoyed me too several times but got the answer anyway...

I noticed for some reason veilguard installed itself to my user file steamlibrary steamapps instead of my normal program x86 steam steamapps folder like every other game... I'm moving it over to the correct (i think) folder and will update if the error continues

yes, it was installed to the wrong drive. it now works well, it seems it was affecting the shader cache as well as i can now run on ultra with ultra ray trace as well whereas before fixing i would go down to 30-40 fps

Found a solution for this on my end. I uninstalled and reinstalled it to my ssd and now it works perfectly fine. Hope this helps guys.

Huh... That is strange. Is there a way to get a hold of your save files and see if any back-up saves exist somewhere in your drive? I'd try doing that. Failing that, try starting a new game, make a save, and see if the problem immediately persists, then go from there and report it to Bioware/EA. I hope that helps. :)

After updating my driver, validating my files, restarting, trying different saves with no luck I made space on my SSD, moved the game and it loaded up the correct save quickly and with no issue. :MoonlighterIrritated:

This is exactly my experience. Once I moved the game files to my SSD drive. This issue no longer reoccurs.

It also fixed another issue where my character was loaded as preset or default.

The computer restarts and loads the wrong file! ! You might as well try the following: First, do not overwrite the old file each time you save the file, save it completely; second, go back to the lighthouse before saving the file each time; third, save the file manually every time you exit the game, especially when you turn off the computer, and reload the file after saving the file. i only have ssd drive i still had same problem i tryed all the fixes none worked i noticed alot of fixs changed ur chars looks so i started new game picked a premade one changed nothing but the name and so far no save bug i think the save bug is caused by a bug in loading custom chars could be wrong but as i say so far all saves have loaded back in

When i save in lighthouse every time it loads without error. All other methods didn't help
