No problems on Windows so far, except a few artifacts when FSR is enabled here and there. They look like my GPU is dying (small rectangles), but it's new, so that would be weird. :D
AMD released a new beta driver just for this game, maybe try that one out:
https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RAD-WIN-24-20-19-05.html
The only other problem I currently have is that sometimes when there are popups, like picking up an item or a note and it shows the item info, it crashes my whole user session.
Nice! I’ll give these Beta drivers a try on Windows and share my findings with you all. Fun fact: the game was running quite well on both 7800 XT and 7900 XTX rigs at launch. But after a suspicious shader update from Valve’s servers, the issues began.
Hey Paladin, it seems the issue might be related to the hair strands quality setting that other users are reporting. Setting it to medium essentially disables the feature halfway, so you still get nice hair but without the ultra-high quality. Plus, you get better stability!
I’ll upvote this as the real solution for freezes and crashes.
For anyone experiencing performance issues on Linux, even on powerful machines, try playing at medium settings, adjusting lighting and textures as needed.
It’s possible that Valve’s precompiled caches on Steam servers could use some improvements.
The setting is called "Strand Hair" BTW.
