Shader compiling too long
I started the game and after sitting here for 15 minutes at 29%, i thought about the two hours refund time from steam. I probably have left 1 hour and 25 minutes or so when i first can start playing the game, not to mention the character creation. Why does it take so long?
System Specs:
Windows 10 2H22
Ryzen7 5800X 3D
MSI x570 Gaming pro Carbon
Corsair 64gb ram
RTX 3090

Yup. Took a full 40 mins for me. Not happy at all with that.

Games in the 1980s that loaded from cassette tape started faster than this

That's weird. Compiling shaders on startup took like 4 minutes on my rig (5900X).

Did you use the early character creation?

Little under 5min on a 7800x3d

If community support is watching, shader compilation is running about 20+ mins (for me on an RTX3070 with 16gb of RAM). Downloading the Nvidia driver updates required a recompile of another 20+. Not doing the Nvidia driver update caused a crash about 3 hours in for me (middle of the ballista fight). Otherwise all running well, but just as a heads up.

Took me about 20ish minutes. I fiddled with graphics, then had to restart. I then had to verify shaders, again. I fiddled with the graphics before I quit to go make some dinner, I'm getting back on, and lo and behold, I have to verify shaders, again. This is getting a little silly.

Have you watched DF review on it. Literally was described that it takes so long so you could play smoothly constantly with no problems (in comparison to other recent games)

30min to compile, same time to just check the shaders... what the point !
My PC can compile the whole Unreal Engine faster that this game check his shaders... WTF...
Two launches and I burn the steam delay to be refounded... what a great feature to ensure your game will not be refounded.

Ok my cpu is a bit old, but seriously, 30min for checking shaders it's a pure joke. What the hell did it do...

This is indeed a good thing, but since this fed up time within the steam refund policy, there should be a customer friendly solution to this.

About 8 or 9 minutes for me on an i5-13600KF.

Same here. I have Rx6600 with 8gb vram and it takes like 15 minutes everytime i open the game. It's not a big deal but i'm getting tired of waiting every single time. I can play the game with 60 fps on High so it really helps to play smoothly and the game definitly has very good optimization but they really should do something about it. There are people who is waiting like 30 minutes or more.
